Ah... but this is a canon forum. In the EU forum you can be all EU you want. So it's not a matter of ignorance, more a matter of separation.
My personal problem with EU is that it's quite hard to keep track. There's so much and you'd really have to know all of it to use it in debates. I have some EU books and comics, but I don't think all of it is interesting enough to read, collect or keep track.
So the 'anti-EU' sentiments you seem to detect in here are mainly focused on this being a canon forum. We don't discuss EU here, we have a whole separate forum especially for that.

That is great you let your kids play with them. The experience they will get with such iconic figures will be far more valuable than what value they can ever give you money wise assuming they are not incredibly rare figures.
On EU, I often to the the EU forum and make fun of it to get reactions. Hahaha.

EU is a way to make more money and stimulate interest in Star Wars. They are not just in it for the money.
Some EU is pretty awesome.
