A monopod is a telecopic stick. Easy to use for photography I guess. Takes less time to set up, easy to take along and even attached to teh camera and made short it's easy to move. If you're nog doing any long exposure photography or stuff where it needs to stand on it's own, it's a good way to go for starters.

Tripods. Let's see. There's Manfrotto, one that I know in your price range and is pretty decent.

There are way too many crazy people on KMC in general. That guy was not the first stalker I've picked up, and certainly wasn't the craziest of them 😛

And wow, I never realized how expensive a tripod can be...I have one, it's my mom's old one that she gave me. I rarely use it though. I'm mostly fiddling around with macro photography these days and that requires getting really close to the subject and as nice as a tripod is, they don't quite allow for that sort of freedom.

well the one i have is made from cheap plastic and screws and is hardly functional, and stand a 2feet high.

the ones i'm looking for are going to be made out of metal or steel, and have liquid measures to show me if the side are even and is stable.

.. and can stand 6 feet high.

it'll come in very handy when i go out to lack to take pictures with my zoom lens, and it'll takes some awesome portrait pics with my fish eye.
