Ah but see my reasons for not wanting Lucas to do more SW have zero to do with the man making a buck. For me it's a matter of not wanting him to go on and add onto the saga and drag it down any further than the PT did. Dont get me wrong, I like the PT however it falls short of the OT in my opinion and I think with his work on the PT Lucas has proven that while he excels at many things SW related screenplay writing does NOT fall in that category. NOW if he wants to make more, and hire a decent damn script writer then perhaps Id be open to more films in the SW universe.

That's a big possibility, and I wonder if he's even going to direct them (if it all it does happen.)

I agree with JP. And apart from that, where the hell are those independt small art films he promised us. I think Lucas hasn't done anything groundbreaking for over 15 years. I would like to see more alternative movies like THX-1138 or whatever. If the guy has so much money, why doesn't he make something where his heart belongs. Personally, since the Skywalker story is over, I wonder if his heart is really still in SW as a narrative universe (see: clone Wars series) or that it's just a franchise for developing tecnhnology... which ILM can then sell to other studio's.

I understand you would agree with the points made about Lucas, but I don't think bad scriptwriting should be a part of the whole Anti-Lucas campaign, considering ANH was plagued with equally bad dialogue but everyone liked that one. Alec Guinness couldn't stand the OT for the same reasons everyone hates the PT. He's was quoted several times saying "I couldn't stand the terrible lines I had to deliver. I had no faith in what we were doing." Seriously, really stop and think about it...ANH is up there in terms of cheesiness with AOTC, but why does ANH get away with it and Attack of the Clones fails? Because of it's time period. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fischer and Mark Hamill didn't give strong performances at all, just as with the PT...but back then, that somewhat hint of "melodrama" worked. In today's standards, it is considered bad acting and below-par dialogue. Remember, if an actor botches a decent line, then it makes that line sound like it was terribly written. Try it yourself sometime.

The fact is, when a time period changes, and culture in general changes, our beliefs on what makes a movie "classic" changes as well. As good as "AVATAR" is, it won't ever be a classic.

The style of the camera's used in the late 70's, as well as early 80's, along with the use of models, fit that entire time period so well, that it left a mark for future generations to appreciate and hail as "cinema gold." Sure, Lucas could make a new trilogy that is far better than the PT, and it still won't ever compare to the OT.

Lucas has a ton of money, but his biggest success was and always will be Star Wars. That's where his heart is, it's what he loves the most and as a genuine storyteller, he might just enjoy telling more stories from the universe he values the most.

Yet, if James Cameron want's to make an Avatar 2, it'll be the "greatest, most humble and sincere attempt ever" to make another billion dollars.

Wow, I'm quoting myself. lol Speak of the devil....look what I just stumbled across: http://herocomplex.latimes.com/2010/10/27/avatar-sequels-set-for-2014-and-2015/

AVATAR 2 and 3 headed our way. Four years from now.

Why can't James just leave the original film alone though? I mean it's obvious he just made 2.3 billion dollars by ripping off Pocahontas and putting it in space. I wonder what story he will rip off this time to make another 2 billion dollars from. I fear AVATAR 2 may just be "The Lion King" in space....and AVATAR 3 could be "The Emperor's New Groove" in space too. They just need to stray away form Pocahontas this time.

All around the sequel films should grab Cameron somewhere over 3 billion dollars. I think he's milking the franchise now. 😛

Don't hate me....I just couldn't resist. 😄

Hey, as long as each sequel is better than the previous ones: go ahead. I'd love to see progression in the films. If they get worse: yes, please leave them alone.

OK it must just be me, because I dont think the dialog was bad in the OT. The only line I find stupid in the OT, shows up in the PT as well and is probably one of the most famous lines. May the force be with you. Ive always thought that was a stupid line. 😂

i tried to carve for the 1st time...

look like soemthing crowning..

You lost an eye ball!!!

Nice work.

😂

But I agree... there are some cheesy lines in the OT but I do think Hammill, Ford and Fisher did quite a bit of changing for the better. During the PT there seemed to be little to no room for the actors to work the lines to suit their characters.

NICE!
