that is true

abducting people for anal probing is my Thursday night

Even at Trek:TOS warp 10 (1000c), it should still take years.

I would sooner go with the far-future hypothesis then ETs...it may even explain the anal probing. Perhaps crapping is obsolete in the far future, and those future humans just can't grok what we - their ancestors - do.

That, or our descendents are incredible perverts.

That's why I made my FTL drives absurdly fast. Now, exactly why no one has ever come back from another galaxy (there's been plenty of time since the drive was discovered) is something of a mystery.

Lightyears/second? I'm partial to lightyears/minute, myself.

9.434 light years per hour. Fast enough to go between star systems quickly (days or weeks) slow enough that the ship is isolated. I wanted an "age of sail" feel where the ship has to be an extension of the state/corporation/religion when in service.

Autonomous functioning, for sure (to a degree). I may've used a bigger theater, though. I liked one-upping Trek.

I've never seen an alien, but it does not meant that they do not exist, on the other hand it doesn't mean that they do either.

I want an alien for Christmas this year.

I believe that aliens are more and highly likely to exist more than god exists because we exist.

Given the science, of course.

apparently there are a lot of concerns regarding the arcenic based lifeform:

Then again many brilliant scientist throughout the ages have believed in a creator. What of the ancient prophecies that are being fullfilled all of the time? How did we come to be? How did anything come to be for that matter? If the metaphysical does not exist, why is it that so many people claim to be possessed? Why have so many people claimed to have seen spirits, or had encounters with spirits? I know of a woman that has claimed to have been sexually molested by an unseen entity, and yet she does not suffer from any sort of mental illness. What if the alien sightings were in fact spirits? Hmmm.... makes you wonder. honestly though, has anyone noticed that the more technological we become, the more sightings of UFO's are seen? Is it us? I'll end with this truth, either they exist, or they do not, you can't have both.
