The Temporary Goodbye Thread

As he entered the laboratory, Bane turned to face his master. As a mark of respect, he slowly removed the black hood that had concealed his face since leaving the ceremony. As Bane looks up, it is then that we finally realise just who he really is ... none other than one of emperor yerssot's former bodyguards 😱 ! And what's more, Bane had been one of the 12 bodyguards present on that fateful day in the graveyard 2 weeks prior ...

Bane slowly approached his master, with electricity frizzing and various liquids bubbling and frothing in the background. When he finally reached the menacing hooded figure that was his master, still hidden in darkness, he bowed down before him ...

The hooded man spoke in an eery, cold tone:

"Bane ... my faithful servant ... riiiiissssseeeee!"

And with that, Bane at once got to his feet. His master continued ...

"I take it the ... ceremony", he said, sniggering sarcastically as he did so, "went well?"

"It was disgusting, my Lord! Oh, I did my duty - I made happy faces, and cheered, and worshipped Clovie like the rest of those utter FOOLS", he spat, an evil relish now appearing in Bane's voice for the first time, "but I could not stand it! I rushed out of there as soon as I could!"

Upon hearing these words, the hooded figure's manner suddenly became more severe:

"Be careful, my friend. As hard as it must be to swear loyalty to our new ... emperor", he said, again sniggering sarcastically, "it is imperative that you keep up appearances for the time being! We cannot yet play our hand! After all, we wouldn't want anything to spoil the surprise that we have in store for them, now would we?" ...

so yerss survived? 😱 😄

and on the note... it is still SW or HP now? 😕

Bane bowed his head sheepishly before the mysterious figure.

"Forgive me, my master! I did not mean to act in such a ... suspicious manner. I promise to be more careful, and to show more foresight in future! It's just that ... it's bad enough having to protect Clovie as her new bodyguard, but now I have to bow to her and swear allegience to her aswell?! It is too much to ask of me, my Lord!"

And with that, the hooded figure's tone of voice suddenly became more understanding and sympathetic:

"Do not worry, my friend - you have nothing to be sorry for. I know how hard it must have been to pledge your undying allegience to our mortal enemy. But I have faith in you, Bane; you can do this! Do not falter now - not when we are this close to ultimate victory! I have not forgotten how you alone stayed faithful to me when all others abandoned me - and for that, you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams!"

Upon hearing these words, Bane gave out a great sigh of relief.

"I thank you, my master, for those kind words. And I hope you know that I will always be faithful to you - the one and only, and rightful heir to the throne of the KMC! I will double my efforts, my Lord; I will make sure that they suspect nothing of our plan ..."

"Tell me", the mysterious figure interrupted, concern now evident in his voice, "I must know, Bane - what do they know?"

Bane lifted his head up, and delivered a curt and obediant reply.

"It would be better, my master, to ask me what they don't know. For one thing, they don't know about this laboratory, and about the experiments that go on here. And they do not know that, prior to his death, yerssot perfected the technique ... of cloning ..."

Ah ... but did he really survive, Clovie? Is the hooded figure actually yerssot at all? And if it is, then how did he survive being vapourized by raz? All these questions and more shall be answered when I complete the story later on today ...

I have absolutely no idea what the second part of your post means 🤨 ...

I'll read this when my PC is fixed and I can read it on a decent screen, but keep up the job Ahnold, the last time I read it it was quite a laugh 🙂

Sorry ... been a bit busy of late, as you might have guessed. But ... not much longer to wait now 😱 .

Btw, I should point out that, at least in the beginning, I wasn't actively trying to base this story on anything 😛 . However, I do regonise the heavy similarities with Star Wars as far as certain parts of the story go 😛 ...

As for Harry Potter ... you be the judge. What part of the story is derivative of the boy wizard's adventures?

it's not frustration, it's tension... what if you got it closed before I got the last post??? 😛

"Speaking of the cloning process ...", Bane continued, "have you encountered any ... complications, or side-effects from the procedure? As you know, the scientists who originally developed this technology with emperor yerssot never designed the artificial aging chamber to work at such an ... accelerated rate; why, you have been ... matured much faster than was ever anticipated for the emperor's true successors! We HAVE to make certain that everything is alright!"

"Do not concern yourself with THAT, Bane", the hooded figure replied dismissively, giving out a slight chuckle as he did so, "That is your one crucial flaw - you worry far too much for a man your age! Suffice it to say ... I feel fine! What's more, my latest medical scans all seem to indicate that I am in excellent health, and that I will continue to be healthy for the forseeable future! See for yourself!"

And with that, the mysterious figure slowly - and finally - stepped out of the shadows. His face was suddenly basked in a brilliant white light - though he did not flinch before it, as Bane had done mere moments ago when he had moved into the light. The truth is now plain for all to see; the hooded figure is, quite unmistakably ... the evil, tyrannical emperor yerssot himself 😱 😱 😱 !!!

Only ... there was something quite different about him. This most certainly was not the same man that had vapourized before the eyes of 14 people in a graveyard 2 weeks previously. THAT man had an old and miserly appearance, his face white, gaunt and wrinkled - twisted by rage and evil; oh no ... THAT man was quite dead. THIS man was oddly quite youthful in appearance - indeed, he looked no older than 30! THIS man ... was a clone! A clone of emperor yerssot!

"As you can see," yerssot continued, touching his face as he did so, "I am not just normal, but better than normal! HA - those fools at the KMC thought that the original yerssot was being rhetorical when he said that he would lord over this forum forever! Little did they know that, once our plan is put in motion, my rule will be ... eternal !!!

The evil yerssot - having positively relished in expressing his portents of doom - began to cackle wildly; his faithful servant Bane - perhaps out of fear of retribution if he appeared to do nothing, or perhaps, too, out of glee - joined his master in laughing maniacally.

After a few moments, yerssot ceased his laughter, and his demeanour changed altogether; now he seemed more thoughtful, and reflective.

"It is a shame," yerssot pondered, "that it had to be so. Whilst the first emperor yerssot had the luxury of passing away quietly in his sleep - to the knowledge of only his most trusted servants - the second was murdered very publicly, in view of no less than fourteen witnesses; there was no way that we could have possibly silenced them all before they went public with the news of yerssot's death - especially so considering that 2 of those witnesses were raz and clovie, possibly THE most high profile members here at the KMC besides me! It is regrettable that now we will have to stage a coup in order to regain power; heh - I'm sure that you remember, Bane, that the first emperor yerssot was replaced without it ever becoming public knowledge!"

"In any case," yerssot sighed, "I was not yet ... ready until a very short time ago. Even if we HAD managed to eliminate all the witnesses before they told everyone their story, someone would have surely realised that something was wrong when the emperor mysteriously "vanished" for 2 weeks along with members like clovie and raz! But it is not our fault, Bane; no one in our organisation could have possibly foreseen that the second emperor yerssot would last for only a few years! That is why I was not ready in time; that is why, unlike with the first emperor yerssot's death, there was no clone ready and willing to take over power at once in the wake of the emperor's death! The first yerssot ruled for decades, Bane - and since he began experimenting with cloning quite early into his reign, he was well prepared for his death!"

"But ... no matter. My aging has been successfully advanced; soon, I will once again rule over this forum with a fist of iron!!!"

God...I don't even know you and this thread makes me sad....coul be cause This Years Love plays in the background....but still.....

Wow dontgetit; you don't even know me, and you come in here and make a remark like that. Geez ... what a mean spirited and horrible thing to do. And, sad to say, you're the second person to do that this week, a full 6 months after I came back to the KMC to clear all of this up. What a nasty thing to do. And with my birthday tomorrow too ...

Well ... not that it's any of your business, but let me just save myself the effort of wasting yet more of my time on spiteful and unnecessary comments by quoting something that I wrote earlier in this thread:

I admit that it was misguided of me to leave in the first place - but I most certainly did not do it for attention or to gain people's affection. That is what many other people have said - and I resent this implication which, I can tell you, is blatantly false.

Oh, forget it ... I'll finish the story later. I've suddenly lost my appetite, so to speak ...
