Hmmm ... that post from the end of June now seems like such a looong time ago. Why do I keep making these long absences away from the KMC? In truth, I have been very swamped over the past few months (aren't I always 😛 ) with work and exams, but I still wish that I'd shown my face round here at least once or twice during the intervening months; still - regulars to the forum, I'm sure, know by now that what I hate more than anything is making only a half-arsed contribution here at the KMC ...
Oh well, what's done is done. The question that I prefer to ask is why do I keep coming back ... the answer, of course, being all of you 😄 . As ever, it's great to be back here again; I might as well enjoy this visit while it lasts - who knows how long I'll be around for this time, eh 😛 ?
The reason why I have returned now, of course, is because of the release this week of the long-awaited "Casino Royale". I must admit that, like many of you I'm sure, I awaited this film eagerly, though approached it with a degree of anxiety and trepidation. Whilst I have always felt that Daniel Craig would be an excellent (if not premature 🙁 ) replacement for Pierce Brosnan, I was very wary about this concept of a "re-imagining" of sorts that took us back to the beginning, and that essentially did away with the canon of the last 20 Bond films; what's more, I felt very uneasy about the absence of key "ingredients" making up the Bond "cocktail", like Q and Miss Moneypenny ...
Well, I saw the film tonight - and am both immensely relieved and overjoyed to say that my fears were largely baseless. Believe the hype, people - this film is fantastic, and - IMHO - one of the best Bond films to come out in years. After the (IMO) disappointing "DAD", this is a true return to form for a franchise which I feel hasn't produced a really great Bond film since "GE" - at least, until now. Truly, Bond ... is back 😎 ...
On an unrelated note: I must admit, however, that my return to the KMC is rather bittersweet - just as it was back in June. For what is the fun in revelling in the greatness of "Casino Royale" ... if my good friends from the JB forum are not here to talk to 🙁 ? Where is yerssot??? Where is clovie??? Where are The Redeemer, Reborn Again, and all the old regulars??? In the words of "The Living Daylights" theme tune - where has everybody gone?
Please, guys - I know that you must be busy (and I also know that I'm hardly one to talk about long, unexplained absences 😛 ), but please can't you spare a moment to drop by? After all, new James Bond films don't come out every day (this is the first one to come out in the 3 years that I've been a member here at the KMC); this is an exciting event - if ever there was a time for the old gang to turn up it's surely now! People like yerssot and clovie, for instance, have now been absent for almost a whole year - if even I, the wandering sheep of the JB forum 😛 , can find a little time to come down here now, then I'm sure that you guys can too. It'd be great to see you guys - so please come on down 🙂 .
One week left to go......
Ok, so here it is....my final week until I leave to start my basic training with the Royal Navy! Whoo-hoo....well I think lol. I just want to thank all my friends for all their support, you all know who you are. We've had some pretty good times right? And just because I'm leaving next week, doesn't mean you lose...oh sorry, I'll re-phrase that....get rid of me for good! I'll be back at Christmas to catch up on things! Thanks again everyone!
