im talentless...hahaha,,,you've got no clue...drums has nothing to do with timing you say...well given that it is the drums and bass that are responsible for the timing of every band then i would say that timing is everything for a drummer

as for your point about hand timing being more important...i would say maybe...but hand timing is easier than feet timing...

you do it your way...i'll do it mine...if you dont like the way i do it...tough luck...

the way you write about drums is like saying that there is a set way of learning every instrument and that everyone must follow those patterns to be good...and then we wonder why all music sounds the same

Yeah you are. Please point out where I even ONCE said that drums had nothing to do with timing. Timing IS everything, but not before you have something as simple as hand coordination and sticking techniques down first. Of course hand coordination is easier, that's why hand/foot coordination comes AFTER it.

There is a not a set technique, but there sure is such thing as fundamentals that EVERYBODY has to learn.

Don't make me hand your ass to you.

im taking drum lessons from a 16 year old hardcore fan

i think not ...go home little one...

Wow, you're taking lessons from a 16 year old. I'm sure THEY'RE an authority on how to play the drums...

Tony Royster Jr was prettty good at 12.

apparently they must be...

im not here to get into an argument with someone about drum techniques...i give my advice...they can give theirs

and batarangs blade can make up his own mind...

but the only way to get good...is to practice

i know people who have never had a guitar lesson in their lives but are total wizards with the instrument

as morpheus would say..."there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path"

Why are ppl arguing over giving advice?

yeah...i just had that epiphany earlier...im just hoping norma jean comes to the same conclusion or will continue the "my way or the highway" attitude

regardless...

why the drums...why choose the drums...ive always wanted to know why other people chose the drums

lets face it...they are the worst instrument to have to lug around to gigs...and guitarists and vocalists get all the chicks...

personally i played the drums cause i was pretty gash on the guitar...and as i said before in another thread...id rather listen to good music that play shit music...

Your probably pretty gash on drums too. 1.) Hardcore drumming is hard for rock, but compared to the advanced Latin and Jazz drumming, it's nothing too special. 2.) Taking lessons from someone 10 years younger than you (if you were even really born in 1979) who probably is savvy to simple thrash and blast beats at the loudest volume he can reach, isn't really classicly trained.

I believe he is an exception.

Jaden asked "why drums?" well, to tell the truth, Batarangs Blade is a buddy of mine and me and some friends are starting a band and we needed a drummer and he said that he would do it and he was kinda iffy about it at first but we kinda forced him into it but i think he will like it once he gets good.... i hope.
And i also think that people can teach themselves to play. for example, i play bass for our band and i got my bass for christmas and i have taught myself to be fairly decent. I'm not trying to argue with anyone, i am simply re-emphasizing the fact that it is possible. you just need practice.

You can only go so far on self-invented technique. Especially with drums.

keep on with the petty insult oh sad little one...but ive been playing drums since you were about 5...without the need for lessons

i really was born in 1979...i really am 25 years old...

and i dont even understand your last point because it is so badly written it doesnt even make sense

as for your point about only learning so much without lessons....

i dont believe that...yes there are techniques that are more quickly learned if someone is showing you...but techniques dont make a good drummer

a better example is on the guitar...who knows more techniques than just about anyone in the world in guitar and in fact releases entire albums just to show off his new techniques...joe satriani...and who has absolutely no soul, emotion of feeling to his guitar playing whatsoever...joe satriani

whereas who had a pretty crap technique but played whatever the hell he wanted and made his music come from the heart and is regarded as the greatest guitarist in history because of it...jimi hendrix

im not trying to put him off getting lessons...by all means if you can afford them then get them...

but you simply cant restrict yourself to techniques when you are drumming for a band

your age and competence is definitely evident in your grammar...don't you agree...

i think so

who probably is savvy to simple thrash and blast beats at the loudest volume he can reach, isn't really classicly trained.

yeah...and you cant really lecture someone on the English language...as the above quote from you really shows

you might want to put a question mark after "agree"...seeing as you asked a question...

you still want do debate something as pathetic as grammer and spelling or shall we get back on topic?

let me know when your tantrum is finished

"Taking lessons from someone 10 years younger than you isn't really classicly trained."

"who probably is savvy to simple thrash and blast beats at the loudest volume he can reach" = Description of "someone 10 years younger than you"

Insert that in the sentence and it makes perfect sense.

I'm not mad. We can get back on topic and discuss PROPER drumming at any time. That unfortunately can't happen, becaue you are not a proper drummer. 😱

By the way I was typing like you on purpose. It's called "making fun" of someone.

proper drummer...that's played proper gigs...in proper venues where they sell proper drink...where as your wouldn't have done that yet...not being old enough to get in

as for the grammer again...no...you typed like way before you started on the bad grammer issue...because you are poor at english...yet you have the nerve to attack other people's language and grammer...what's the saying again...something about glass houses and throwing stones...

you know what...this is getting highly tedious

batarangs blade and nickthebassist(presumably the bassist in the band)

good luck with the band...people will come and go from the band...always happens

norma jean

you didn't say if you were in a band or not but if so i hope that goes well for you too...

i dont know where you are from but if your a UK band then give me the name and i'll keep an eye out for you...i'll be the one thats drunk and throwing pies at you probably but thats all part of the fun

take it easy little man...even if you are shit on drums

already pointed it out to you...

now are we still going to continue this pointless childish bickering?

actually...given that you are a child then i suppose i cant expect anything but more petty comments

i asked if you wanted to give it a rest...i was civil in the way i put it to you...and you respond by continuing like a 5 year old
