Hey does everybody remember that part in OotP, near the end, it was during the battle between dumbledore and voldermort. And then Voldermort does something and he starts to speak through Harry saying something along the lines of "You could kill me now, kill the boy" or something, what do you all think of that?

I got a question, if the HBP isn't Tom, then why was this a possible title for CoS?
She cut out that particular info out of the book which was driving her to keep its title: "Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince". She thought that the "right" place for that info would be the 6xth book and so she changed the title of the 2nd book.

[B]Do we think the HBP is the character mentioned in CoS? B/c that doesn't necessarily have to be it...The clue was that something small in CoS is something big in the 6th book, but does that mean that the HBP is what is mentioned? I was watching JKR's interview on the CoS DVD again today, and it says that a "detail" inside the Chamber comes back in the 6th book (at least that was my understanding as to what Steve Kloves meant...)...

maybe she meant the actual chamber. i think it should be the phoenix.

but also in this part, harry is trying to kill bellatrix...and it got me thinking. Harry tried to use the Cruicious (sp?) curse on her...but of course it doesn't work for him. Bellatrix says something to the extent of, in order to use an unforgivable curse you have to want to cause pain, to enjoy it...righteous anger won't get you anywhere....and theres the whole thing w/ harry using love as a weapon against voldy...so perhaps the entire "love" concept is a bigger idea then we think...
I was just thinking... Yall know that with the whole something small in book two equals something big later when you find out what it is your gonna be like OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THAT. I'm pretty sure I'll be one of those people then I'll look back at what I said and I'm gonna laugh so hard. Anyway that was a peak into my insane mind 😄
I hope the thing about love being a weapon doesn't happen IMO. I don't want Harry to be a tree hugger to kill Voldemort, I want him to use Raw hatred and anger to win, because he did hurt Bellatrix when he used the Cruciatus, but it wasn't as strong as her use of the curse, because it was his first time.
Hi. New. Came looking for solid rumors and all.
Moving on.
Been thinking and stewing over who the half-blood prince is. I only have one theory so far. It clicked together from JK's quote about a detail from Book 2 coming back in 6, then from some cut material from JK's site, and some comments over at mugglenet.
I'm putting Dean Thomas out there. Here's why:
JK had originally had more of a backstory for him that she cut from COS. He's not actually muggle-born. His birth father was a wizard who was killed for refusing to join the death eaters. Dean doesn't know his father was a wizard and Dean's mother never did either (I think). So there. He's a half-blood. This was cut from COS. Could come out in more detail in the sixth, making Dean a likely candidate. But, since it was cut, it may not qualify as a minor detail as we didn't even see it in all its... minor detailyness?
But Dean, being Ginny's new boyfriend, is moving into the foreground. Still, it doesn't really ring true for me.
How 'bout that? I think it out and post it and now I've come up as empty as ever. Damn.
Here are more male characters, and possibilities for the HBP...

I love this explanation, I found at the www.DarkMark.com
Rubeus Hagrid: Hagrid is my favorite bet for Half-Blood Prince. Being one of, if not the major character in Chamber of Secrets aside from Harry himself, he certainly fills the role of being the subject for the title of the book. Also, from the information that we have been given in the books, Hagrid is the only character that we know of who actually is a Half-Blood Prince! Hagrid was born to a wizard (his father) and Queen Fridwulfa of the Giants, technically making him Half-Blooded (as he's half human) and a Prince (being that his mother was a Queen). He is by far one of the most mysterious characters in the series, and only as we learn more about him do we realize exactly the awkward position he has in life. As he has gone back to the Giants in order to gain their support against Voldemort, it is more than possible that there will be a large future plot revolving around his struggle (and even the struggle of Grawp, the giant which he 'saved' in Order of the Phoenix) with the Giants and with the Giant within himself. There are any number of plot-lines that could be seen from this, maybe Hagrid goes back to lead a tribe of giants? Maybe he adopts more and keeps them in the forest, teaching them English and proper table manners? The possibilities are endless.
Albus Dumbledore: While Hagrid is by far the front-runner in my view, Albus Dumbledore is also another character that could be the Half-Blood Prince. Despite the fact that he is also one of the most pivotal and main characters, we know very little about the Headmaster, really. What we do know is that he has a brother, Albeforth, who has magical abilities (being that he performed improper charms on goats). This is important because it has never been revealed whether or not what “blood” Dumbledore comes from. My guess is that he is half-blooded (his father being the muggle and his mother being a witch), based on the fact that he has a magical sibling (it would seem against the odds to have two muggle-borns in the same family) and that the surname 'Dumbledore' has never been attributed to any other character in the modern wizarding world (in the way that the 'Prewett', 'Bones', etc. have been). He certainly has a role in Chamber of Secrets that only makes the reader ask more questions about him. How did he get Fawkes in the first place? How did he come across Godric Gryffindor's sword? Also, wouldn't it be rather like JK Rowling to have a Prince be over one hundred-fifty years old? Things tend to defy expectation in the wizarding world, no?

And Hagrid would indeed be a prince, since his mother was a Queen
