I also agree that JKR could be fooling us w/ the "it's not Voldemort" gag, meaning that the HBP could in fact be Tom Riddle. However, closer inspection into Hagrid's history makes me think it is him.
Also, it is very possible that the hatred Harry feels for Voldemort could displace the love in Harry, making it possible for Voldemort to reside in Harry for longer periods of time. I like your thinking pixie1. However, I don't think Harry and Voldemort are going to merge to become one person. If anything, I think they will seperate. For the past 5 books we've seen how alike Voldemort and Harry are w/ their similar powers. It's common knowledge that when Voldemort tried to kill Harry, he accidentally transferred some of his powers to him...I think in the end one (Voldemort) will die, and the other (Harry) will aquire the powers w/ their full strength. The bond btwn. them will be broken and Harry will then use those powers for the rest of his life to fight evil as an auror.... 🙂
