no he said Tom Riddle as an example that Blaise could be in Slytherin and be a Half Blood because so was Tom even the most slytherins are pure blood.

Lets suspend reality for a sec and say Blaise is the HBP. Knowing he is a Death Eater's son, it would be safe to assume that he is the Half Blooded Prince of Darkness...A sort of Voldy Jr, if you will. OR...What if he is a rebel and turns against the centuries of Slytherin meanies and becomes Blaise Zabini, Prince of Half Bloods, uniting them in the fight against evil along w/ Harry & Co. Maybe Blaise could be teetering on the proverbial edge of moral dilema btwn. following his father's footsteps and choosing to take a stand and be his own man.

Then again, maybe he's not the HBP...We still have Seamus, Dean, Lupin, Hagrid, and Dumbledore (don't hurt me!) as suspects...

Could it be a possibility that Blaise doesn't know he's a half blood. That actually would make the story line way to confusing. Maybe since he's in Slytherin Craco just assumes that he is a pure blood...you know what assuming does! I doubt that the HBP is a new character...JKR has already mentioned SOOO many characters, she could just as easily bring one of them out into the spotlight...

So is there a part where Blaise and Draco talk? B/c if not than the fact that Draco wouldn't talk to a half blood is a moot point...

But she said there are going to be over 200 characters, i don't know how many there are, but 200 is a lot and i don't think she's there yet

Now to participate in the discussion: I don't think Blaise is the HBP. It just doesn't seem right, that a completely unknown, never before mentionend character could rise to a part making him eligible for book title. (PS: I deliberately disregard his mentioning in Stone during the Sorting Ceremony)

If the HBP is a student, I'd rather vote for Seamus. Did we actually ever learn his mother's maiden name? All I know is:"Me Dad's a muggle, mom's a witch. Bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out!"
So maybe there's a little more to him than meets the eye...
