very odd indeed ; for the sake of historicity, the nail should have been driven through the wrists not the palms....

Nailing of wrists. Left, Size of iron nail, Center, Location of nail in wrist, between carpals and radius. Right, Cross section of wrist, at level of plane indicated at left, showing path of nail, with probable transection of median nerve and impalement of flexor pollicis longus, but without injury to major arterial trunks and without fractures of bones

everyone knows that, havent u seen "Stigma" 😛

erm...but it hurts more and takes more time to heal...i think they're not planning to die there

I highly doubt they die up there, cuz it would be against the law.. most likely

So then they aren't really going through what Jesus went through? Posers.

it is some kind of soreful performance.

Catholic tradition.

no way it's catholic, I am more than sure that the pope is against this 😬

I wasn't being serious, first of all. Second, if they want to nail themselves up to a cross to relive what Jesus went through then they aren't achieving their goal, because Jesus died on the cross. So basically they are just nailing themselves to a cross for the hell of it. Oh well, hope that works out for them.

well actually they do a re-enactment of the passion of christ; they feel that it strenghtens their faith towards the religion. Having said that its an achievment based on a personal basis, no real attempt to show-off or any bollocks of that kind.

They do it for personal soul cleansing and spiritual inspiration so it does not matter what any one of us thinks or says.

I live in the Philippines. And I know it's Catholic tradition during Lenten season.

👿 "good, goooood."

Nothing makes Easter candy taste better than the blood a bunch of sinners trying to be Jesus.

How odd...

Jeeze those people are stupid

They're not stupid. They're naive and brainwashed.

I will let that "stupid" remark from Napalm pass. He is, after all, the resident jackass.

The inspiration is Catholic (at least our version of it) but the pain practice itself must have evolved from pre-colonial beliefs, I think. For one, the self-torture and pseudo-crucifixion is practiced in mostly provincial/rural areas, where people have no trouble believing in BOTH the Caucasian Christ and "duendes" (elemental beings). For another, history will show that people were taught to believe that from pain will come salvation, except some of us actually outgrew that belief/progaganda.

When you look at it, it's actually a lot less harmless than joining Waco-like cults.

Wow, I would never do that.
