In this kind of forum, they may not want to join tournaments because of the favoritism.

i think there is an element of that already (the tournaments)...

Not really. The rules are simple. Ignoring the rule breakers is like ignoring a spark in a pile of straw. One person goes around thinking it's okay to make repeat threads and debate based on opinion. Another sees it and copies. Two people take after them. Soon four. It'll just spread. I'm not saying there shouldn't be warnings.

This thread looks exactly like the mod'scoughcoughloungecoughcough... damn cigarrette!

Anyway, don't fight in here. I'll try to get you a mod as soon as I can, but in the meantime... be good!

Surely there can't be as many tophats!

haha, i was going to say it was like the teachers lounge.....be we don't have coke machines here 🙁

Think of the Children, just think of the children

The question is who is this forum for: The older people on this thread who use this forum or the vast majority of 12 to 16 year olds who justt want to know if Thor can beat Hercules. Do they deserve to be punished because of there enthusiasm. I say No!

Think of the Children 🐰 think of the children (and I seriously mean that)

Because in my opinion they are who the forum is about. The kids who can't answer my thread Shogun Warriors v Megas because they weren't born when the Shoguns came out.

Or really believe Surfer can beat pre crisis supes 😄 This forum is for them. 🐰 The ones who think Holacaust is a cool name for a character not thinking about the gas chambers and the people who shared my blood who were marched into them 🙁

I say heal 🧑‍⚕️

keep the faith 🤘

The question is who deserves to decide the condition of this forum, some inconsiderate deviants who won't even bother reading the rules before they go on a rampage of nonsense, or members who are here to stay and care about the condition of this forum?

The Majority always the Majority

Not a few self appointed "elders"

This forum is a comics forum nothing more nothing less, Its a nice place to come and argue with people who share a common interest and thats all it is. Forums need new people.

Who exactly do you think the majority is? Can't newbies become more considerate members? I think you're just argueing against new rules due to some sort of extreme sloth. You're already sitting at your computer man, a little extra effort isn't going to kill you.

😄 some truth actually I have the KMC minimised whilst I am working on my Laptop an every few hours I have a play on KMC, I have broadband so my laptop stays on😄.

Mercilous I just believe forums should be inclusive, not exclusive. I only ever post new threads and over the last week have only started threads with bios and pics. I usually support my argument with at least hyperlinks. I am arguing because I don't think we should punish the new for being enthuusiastic and I guess I don't like rules much!

this whole attitude that we're these self appointed "elders" is bullshit...

if new people want to know if thor can beat hercules, then they should find the thread about thor v hercules, not just create one, why? its hard enough for people to come up with original battles, but when they do they're knocked to the second page by one guy who decides to make ten threads, all of which have been done before...

forums need new people, but they also need to be enjoyable for the ones who've been here long enough, so guidelines are needed...

I live with it

Most of my original theads don't get answered because hardly anyone knows about the characters or like with the Antimoniter threads I started they read that Superman beat him in a truncated bio and immediatly think his weak. 😄

thats their problem, not yours...

but its no excuse to let tons of double threads be made just because the characters are popular...

Who's talking exclusivity? I've certainly not said rules for some. I'm saying rules for all.

Are you saying you should be exempt from the same rules as everyone else because you're new? Who's talking exclusivity now?

I would get no replies if

Say I use this Jonny Bates v Holacaust

I put this up

Truncated version

Madness or modernity?: The Holocaust in two Anglo-American comics

Robert Eaglestone

Royal Holloway, University of London

Abstract:

This article looks at the ways in which the two Anglo-American comics, Desert Peach and Miracleman, explain the Holocaust. I highlight their differences from Maus, the starting point for nearly all discussions in English about comics and the Holocaust. Donna Barr's Desert Peach is about the fictional younger brother of Erwin Rommel, the 'Desert Fox'. The stories are rather like a World War II German version of M*A*S*H. However, her account of the Holocaust offers the widely accepted and widely criticized 'good German' story: that, although the SS and Nazi High Command were perpetrators in the genocide, the 'Honourable' German army were bystanders who did not commit atrocities. Her basically liberal paradigm means that 'Nazi madness' is the only explanation. In contrast, Alan Moore's superhero allegory, Miracleman suggests that there is an inextricable alliance between modernity and the death camps. By highlighting the similarities between this and Adorno's discussion of the 'myth of the Enlightenment', I suggest that this story, in which blond Aryan superheroes take over the world is a conscious allegory for the Holocaust and is both a warning about the power of Enlightenment thought and an analysis of it.

Keywords:

Alan Moore, Art Speigelman, Donna Barr, Graphic Novel, Holocaust Historiography, Theodor Adorno

I expect fanboys to know who holacaust is

Not at all I just believe no new rules are needed

😄 The rules and modding here now are excellent if its not broken why fix it. Thats been my argument all along.

but it is broken... paola simply doesnt have the time to be in here 24/7, and this forum needs more attention...

It's not broken in your opinion, who by the way have not been here very long.

True enough and in a year I may be bored and have outgrown this forum

If I feel it provides nothing for me I will move on maybe go back to StarDestroyer.net or somewhere like that 😄

So your saying Paola does a half arsed job

I disagree, I think this is a superbly modded forum and it is moderated sensibly and with care and attention to all. Paola is an excellent mod imo
