I think that Star Trek sucks. Everyone who feels the same has an obligation to say so.

Just talking about the evolution of "science fiction" and
the portrayal of space travel and aliens and all that stuff.

Star Trek was an important and influencial part of the
developement of science fiction, so that whether one
likes it or not, it exercised an inluence (mostly indirect)
over Star Wars.

Apparently Lucas himself may have intended the bar
scene (can't remember in which os the original three
films) to be an homage to a similar scene in a Star Trek
episode.
