Surfer is a pacifist. He could have easily killed Ben. He was only restraining him.
These are all very early Siver Surfer appearances. Look at some of Surfer's more recent appearences to gain a better understanding of his power.

Silver Surfer is not exercising anywhere near his full ability. It's called PIS. There is no way Thing could give Surfer any sort of problems if Silver Surfer decides to defeat him.
If Silver Surfer is trying to reason with Superman and GL, they will give him problems. If he has decided that he will destroy them, there is nothing they can do to stop him.

Martian Manhunter is a tactical genius with complete control over his body and can turn intangible.

That doesnt proove that surfer could absorbs supes energy. By the way, we are talking about only superman and surfer, there are a flash, two green lanterns, a wonder woman, a martian manhunter and a batman who dont wait sited that surfer could beat supes. I repeat, those are too much people for surfer. And if thing and hulks and namors punches has damaged surfer, even dooms blasters and iron man repulsors, why on hell superman and wonder woman and martian manhunter strenght, or the flash super fast punches or the two green lanters enery atacks couldnt?
MM is just as strong as Superman and WW is just a female version. Those three on SS, add two GL's and Flash lol and he doesnt stand a chance. Now lets be honest, Thor doesnt stand a chance so it basicaly comes down to the JLA vs SS. If u think SS could possibly win then please read up on the JLA and SS.

None of these people can touch SS in speed. Not in fighting speed, thought speed, or traveling speed.
None of these people could compare to the Silver Surfer in power. None of them. The Green Lantern ring is limited by willpower. The power cosmic has no limitations.
Everyone keeps saying that the AJLA will be too much for him to handle, but no one has yet to explain how the JLA will defeat him. None of them are fast enough to touch him.
If Doomsday laid waste to the entire JLA, there is no doubt in my mind that Surfer could defeat the few listed.
