So you cheated and got it wrong..

I looked it up which is cheating but it was made in 1906 so I didn't know 😐

Who invented the term 'horsepower' and for what reason?

No answers yet, so time for a hint.
His name is related to other definitions of power as well.

Wasn't it James Watt ? or something like that anyway..

no idea the reason behind it though..

It was James Watt!
He came up with the term 'horsepower' to sell his improved steam engines. Most of his potential customers were using horses in mills and mining operations those days, and he needed to translate the capabilities of his engines to something they would understand and could relate to. So he calculated the power generated by a single horse turning a mill wheel (I'll save you the details), and used that figure as a index for the power of his engines.

I looked it up after I posted that...

It is a monster calculation isn't it lol..

Hell yea, just reading the formula makes my head hurt, let alone trying to understand it.

Here's one for the B-boys; how was scratching discovered/invented?

I have no idea on this one..

Come on, somebody must know the answer!
Let me rephrase the question; how was the cool 'wikky-wakky' sound that a LP record makes (when it's rotation is disturbed manually) discovered?

someone tried it one day srug

really I have no idea

Ah hell, I'll give the answer;
It happened back in the old days when the profession of DJ was in a revolution. They just invented the multiple LP player set, on which a DJ could play one record and prepare other records to follow right after, even mixing the ends and beginnings of the records for a continuous music flow.
To do this properly, it was necessary to hold back the next record by hand, to release it when the previous song was about to end.
Doing so, the record made all sorts of funny noises (only notable by the DJ), and it was the Man Grandmaster Flash who saw the coolness in these sounds and applied them as a part of the music.
This created a whole aspect of the turn-table, altering the speed and direction of records for special musical effects.

This has happened to most of us; you're at a 'all you can eat' buffet, chowing down what ever is on the menu and doing fine and wanting more. Until within a mere moment you are suddenly so full that it actually becomes uncomfortable.
Now how did this happen?

i found it hehe

I guess that it takes awhile for the sensors in your stomach/intestine to send the signal to your brain.

Because eating more than you pay for is a sin..

God told me 😛

in other words I have no idea 🙂

Pittman was correct. It takes a few minutes for the stomach to really 'understand' that it can take no more, and to send this info to the brain. Meanwhile a few more bites of food are on their way down. Once they land you al ready have the feeling of being stuffed and those extra bits of food just ad up to that.

Next anyone?
