That's better, except for the "Dooku was instructed to lose" comment.

Thanks, except that was the case was it not?

It was not.

What do you mean? The commentary is quite clear that Dooku realizes he is betrayed when Palps tells Anakin to lop off his head instead of taking him prisoner.

Dooku didn't plan on losing. He was defeated fair and square while giving it his best shot.

Lucas said in the commentary, wasn't it, that Dooku was giving it his all.

Dooku was initially instructed to lose, but then decides to "end this farce" halfway through the duel.

You must have a different commentary than me.

I must. Lucas said in mine that Dooku doesn't know that their duel was a test for Anakin, and that Dooku thought that he was "just going to fight him".

Rewind to just before they enter Palp`s room and I think you will hear the plan, including Dooko`s capture, discussed.

I did, I just listened to it. It's made rather clear by Lucas himself, right as Dooku is beaten, that he did not go in to that fight intending to lose. He went in there and tried to win.

How could he be taken prisoner if he beat them? Are you suggesting Dooku would defy Sidious?

You'd better. Or I'll instruct a fat woman (Nemesis's mom) to fondle your dangly bits.

that's ok. its all the same in the dark.

Dooku is supposed to Lose: Pg. 50:

"It will be" he said slowly, meditatively as though he spoke only to himself, "an aembarrassment to be captured by him."

The voice that answered him was so familiar that sometimes his very thoughts spoke in it, instead of his own. "An embarrassment you can survive, Lord Tyranus. After all, he is the greatest Jedi alive, is he not?? And have we not ensured that all the galaxy shares this opinion?

"It is fatiguing to play the villian for so long, Master, I find myself looking forward to an honorable captivity.

Pg. 55
"For the first time since Sidious had revealed the true subtlety of this masterpiece, Dooku allowed himself to relax enough to imagine the outcome.

With his heroic capture of Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker will become the ultimate hero."

Pg. 60

He cast the comlink aside and ignored its clatter across the deck. He had no further use for it. Let it be destroyed along with Grievous, those repulsive bodyguards of his, and the rest of the cruiser, once he was safely captured and away.

Pg 63:

Skywalker would never understand... the artistry, the true mastery, that Dooku would wield in his own defeat."

Dooku decided to win the fight:

Pg. 73

"No sense taking chances; even his Master would agree with that. Lord Sidious could come up with a new plan more easily than a new apprentice."

Now, in reading this, I completely agree that his decision to go all out against Anakin is W E A K.

Reading the novelization, it really seems as though Anakin's fight against Dooku was not a legitimate win at all. Dooku really thought he was supposed to lose the entire time. Not saying he intentionally got his hands cut off, but he didn't go all-out against Anakin for almost that entire fight, whereas Anakin was going for the kill from the beginnning.

Then AGAIN, how much of that fight is canon, since all the dialogue is wrong?

On another topic here. Earlier on in the thread someone said Yoda mastered every from but Juyo/Vaapad. But according to the new Clone Wars character guide Yoda mastered every form.

um.... i just said it was very possible that Anakin's victory over Dooku was NOT legitimate. where is the condemnation?! where is the fresh discussion. Let's not talk about lightsaber forms here, I just took a shot at widely-accepted G Canon!
