Won`t work. There are adamantium chains or hooks preventing his skeleton from being ripped apart or chopped up. See the respect thread for various failed attempts to do this.
I'm not going to read through all 33 pages, so apologies if someone mentioned this method already.
KO Wolverine (it's possible, no doubt). Tie a big weight to him and chuck him in the ocean. When he hits the bottom of the ocean:
1. The sheer weight of the water above will prevent him swimming up.
2. If he somehow can swim up despite all that, he'll suffocate and die prior to getting any more than a few hundred metres upwards. Consequently he'll sink again and we're back to square one.
Effectively, Wolvie is dead 🙂
Bear in mind, you need to KO him and let him sink long enough for this to work. That's how i'd try and get Wolverine off my back.

Wipeout as been capable of taking it away and due to the nature of his powers, if he were still alive, he could take it away permanently, even after death.
If you aren't familiar because of the obscurity of the character, Wipeout was a member of the Genoshan Press Gang and his powers were pretty much mentally activating and deactivating a mutant's X-gene at will.

Leech from Generstion X can just stand next to him then shoot him in the chest. Wolverines powers also give him added strength and now his bones will way him down. Also if he pops his claws out it will hurt real bad.
When he is dead you have to melt his body in Acid of choice so not a single bit of flesh remains but you definitely have to destroy the BRAIN!
Apparently that is where the X-gene is and his adamantium skull has always held a scrap of it after being vapourized.
I don't know how Logan can survive that even if he beats that Samurai guy in the afterlife!

Sorry for being pedantic, but all cells (except gametes/sex cells) have the same DNA so the X-gene would be found everywhere 😛
