Ha, yeah, well hindsight is 20/20. I'm happy with my team, but every thread I look at anymore is a "what if" for the tourney. Khell mentioned Shaggy Man, who would be a great pick. Raven would be similarly obscure and powerful.
But barring He-Man (who is too powerful) and some people other guys have (I'd have probably picked Genis and maybe Wally) I can't say I've thought of a completely "better" combination than what I have now. I wanted to use Plastic Man really badly (before I was even in the tourney, the first team I wanted to make was Genis, Plastic Man, and He-Man), but I think I was wise to not pick him.
Others I toyed with were Manhunter, Death's Head II, Vision, Super Skrull, Magneto, and Jack Hawksmoor (for no better reason than Khell would be the only one who would know how to begin fighting him).

I got the top basic powers needed....speed, strength, stamina,durability, intelligence, fighting skills and magic.

i'm not so sure you need to feel in any way slighted with your pix digi! zod and loki alone are great! don't know much about authority, but just knowing the first 2 as well as i do, i seeded you second in my own picks. i picked gautam to be the winner. juggs glads AND fate! criminy . . . that is one wicked combo. course, it seems to be less absed on powers (lots of that!) and more based on strategy and debating skills - not sure if gautam has those. in any event, this thing has been entertaining as all hell. looking forward to seeing some more great debates.

Plastic Man, HA..... i was gonna go with Impossible Man!
i considered Super Skrull as well.... and i gained a little experience about Hawksmoor in the last tournament
Juggernaut was the guy i never got
i considered a lot of others.... after reading GLA #2 i think Doorman would be really useful, i considered Hydroman, Ultron, Atlas, Karate Kid (serious consideration there) Ultra Boy (for the double strength heat vision alone) Green Lantern, Kurse, Bloodaxe, various heralds, Drax (as you know) Superman, Red Ghost, Taskmaster, Mimic, Charcoal, etc, etc..... even considered Captain America.... he'd have made a good "mind"...... soooo many possibilities
My original first string team (if i'd gotten the chance) was Flash, Juggernaut (8th day if possible) and Strange..... probably

Agreed. The number of combinations is staggering...but cool. Under the mind/body/powers system we're using, it was the hardest to get a combo that worked well together, where the mind wouldn't limit what could be accomplished with the powers...most of my potential picks were eliminated because I couldn't make them "work" well together.
Sentry's a good example. He had a really good team, but with Dr. Druid and Genis together, either mind would lose out on a lot of the others' power. He chose the lesser of two evils, since Genis's mind would've done less with Druid's powers than vice versa...but still not an ideal situation.

P.S. 2nd? Not bad....thanks leo. We'll see if I can make good on that prediction....provided my match gets posted eventually. Actually, Zod and Loki were picked by Quick Freeze who had to drop out...I could've changed them but didn't...but I might not have thought of them in the first place, so some of the credit goes to QF too.
Yeah...hell, waiting around hasn't been that bad. After the initial "oh, it's going to be longer than I first thought" I haven't had many complaints. Sure, it could move faster...sure, Evangel could be around a bit more...but the thing'll be over with eventually, and in the meantime, I don't mind the down time much.
