Official Doctor Who Thread

Ah yes, it was on everyday wasn't it, or was it weekends? Anyway, they started at I think 7am & there's no way I was getting up at that time. Plus I don't think I was into Doctor Who then or at least wasn't interested in older series', one of the two. If it was on a 7am still, I'd get up. I'd force myself out of my snug cosy bed to watch Doctor Who, I really would!

Yeah Sat and Sunday and they had an one on midweek as part of a 1974 week.
I cant beleive how much they are repeating the new series though...AGAIN

Hardly a surprise- it is the run up to Torchwood.

I learnt something yesterday. Looking through my new Doctor Who annual, it said Torchwood was an anagram of Doctor Who. Isn't a little...wierd, I mean they included Torchwood in Doctor Who itself.

I wonder if it's a sign to The Doctor...? Torchwood everywhere they went, much like Bad Wolf which I never understood. Explaination would be nice. 🙂

well ive read that a couple of Pertwee episodes are on Uk Gold before xmas
i know its the run up to Torchwood but theres in no excuse for the amount of repeats.....but thats satellite/cable for you

Billies doing a signing near me on the 28th Oct..might go and get a pic.

Yeah I know...too many! At least I was able to tape all of first & second series. 🙂 I have a Doctor Who book, it's The Resurrection Casket & it's very good! On page 185 so not that much to go. I want to get the others! Plus I want Doctor Who stuff for my birthday in about 3 weeks! 😛 Cybermen figure & books 'n' stuff.

http://www.sfx.co.uk/news/get_ready_for_a_doctor_who_celebration!

I got an original cyberman figure from the 70s..hes a bit battered there is some good merchandise around now but i spend my spare on Vintage Star Wars figures so no roon for WHO stuff
I got a good book for £20 with all the Doctors last xmas
40 years of Dr Who..its excellent.

An original cyberman doll from round about 1974
I prefer it to the new ones...its weird

Finally saw the Doomsday episode last night...droolio

I loved the ending to Army of Ghosts...
"..those arent Cybermen.."
"EXTERMINATE!"

Oh I nearly wet myselfdroolio

Have to wait until December for the dvds weep

December? They won't be out here until January at the earliest, I think...stupid US.

Oh well. Torchwood's coming out soon. And that will definitely keep me occupied for a good while...even though it'll likely never be aired in the US, and if it ever does, it probably won't be for another year, if they go with the same gap they do with showing Doctor Who here.

The box set will be out next month , will the movie Torchwood have the dr in it ?? Have they just started showing serias 2 in the usa ?

Torchwood will be a TV series, not a movie. Don't think the Doctor will appear (I've not heard anything about that) but who knows.

...pun not intended.

And they started showing it here a couple weeks ago. FINALLY.

They will only stick the Doctor in TORCHWOOD (hate the name)if it flops and needs a ratings boost.
I hope it doesnt flop as all that annoying refering of Torchwood in DR WHO will have been a waste of time and will TOTALLY alter how the last two series are seen....a partial advertisement for a BIG STINKER of a spin off.
Then again it might be good and it would have been worth it.

You can tell Russel T Davies is involved
Theres something a bit gay about this pic.

Cheap shots at RTD rebeal the mentality at someone annoyed that the new series is wildly successful. He's not filling things full of homosexuals.

Of course Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who, BD; that is there the whole deal came from. it was originally the cover up name for Doctor Who footage, used to stop news of new Doctor Who leaking out. As an institution, it was first mentione in the first series (during the Weakest Link section), and they toyed with making the thing as a series for a long time. It is really only the continuation of the lonnnnnnnnnnnng planning and clamour for a UNIT series. UNIT itself is a bit old school for RTD, I think, though.

No news of the Doc in Torchwood and the series is meant to stand without him. But although it has been stated that no stories will cross over between the two, no-one has ever said that inter-continuity will not happen., After all, Jack in in Cardiff looking for the Doctor, so RTD says. Furthermore, it is already all but certain that Jack turns in in Who series 3.

Hey theres a lot to love and im thrilled its doing so well and to see kids into Doctor Who again is a great Buzz...
BUT
Theres lots of bad.

Too much time spent on location in Cardiff and the regular grumblings of it always taking place on Earth
The Cyberman design though its growing on me
No Sea Devils,Sontarians(they got to bring em back!!),Zygons,Ice Warriors or THE MASTER.............well maybe not yet
Peter Kay and his eczema
No mentioning of Susan when asked if he had "family"
THE VERY LOUD BACKGROUND MUSIC
Some of the CGI....give me PAPER MACHE!!!!
No UNIT or Brigadeer
Some of the stories dont make ANY sense
The extras are often terrible...watch them in THE AGE OF STEEL ..how hard can it be to act zombified???
The constant refering to TORCHWOOD......they may regret it
The casting of various camp actors,"pretty boys" and Captain Jack e.g kissing the doctor, getting his arse out...come on Russell we know you are homosexual but try not to turn Doctor Who into QUEER AS TIMELORDS!!!

These may read like the ramblings of a homophobic(i aint) old fan but i DO like the new series.....Tennant is excellent
theres just a lot wrong with it

Full season 2 box set comes out Dec 7 here, just checked. They have the individual Season 2: Volume 1 - Volume 5 sets already, but screw paying $30 for three episodes per set, especially seeing as the box set only cost $90.

Have they started season 3 in the UK yet, or is it still in production?

Well as far as i know these main players(and these are off the top of my head so i guess theres more)in the new series of Dr Who are gay -

Mark Gattis(writer)
Richard Wilson(Dr Constantine)
John Barrowman(Captain Jack)
Andrew Hayden-Smith(Jake)
Sean Gallagher(Chip)
Simon Callow(Charles Dickens)
and Bruno Langley whilst not being gay is a gay pin up due to his potrayal of "a gay" in Dr Who and i guess this got him the part.
Im surprised he didnt bring back Victor Lewis Smiths Tv Offals GAY DALEKS and their cries of SPERMINATE!!! and WHITE WEE WEE!!!!!!!!!!

So i guess its got its fair share of homosexuals
I have a bad feeling that Mr Gattis will be the next Dr Who when Tennant gives up the part...he has the credentials,is a fan,is in with RTP and i bet he wants the job.
Personally i cant stand him,i know fans rate his writing and his work in The League Of Gentelmen but theres something annoying about him.
In a perfect world Ian McDiarmid would make a great choice..im not just saying this because im a Star Wars fan but hed be amazing as The Doctor.....and as i have my doubts about his sexuality too i guess hes at least in with a chance!

I have a lot of stuff, I have all the books from the first series and a coupleof the onesfrom the second series. I'mgoing to get the feast of the drowned at the weekend. I can't wait for series three to start in...March or April? one of them. I only got hooked on Doctor Who inseries one, BUT! my mum recorded the episode in 2000 with the Doctor who was such a waste of a Doctor because he only did one episode. I can't even remember his name. It was a feature length episode, though. And it was quite good. (sorry about my typing, I've just got a new keyboard and it's RUBBISH!!!)
I didn't even know we had it until about halfway through series 2, though.

I've listened to an old episode on the radio though. A while ago.
