Official Doctor Who Thread

True the Dickens episode was a good one but the idiots lantern story was a load of toss

NOT surprised to see some girl on girl action in the Torchwood trailer...guess Captian Jack will get a bit of guy on guy action too and after looking at the pics of Ianto and Owen well probably get the usual love triangle but this time without a Leia or Kate...if you get my drift!
As for the cyberwoman in the trailer im guessing she is a confused cyberman who strolls around shouting "im a CYBERLADIEEE!"

For those without digital TORCHWOOD is on BBC2 Wednesday night with a repeat of the double bill.
Gattis is appearing in the appropiatley titled FEAR OF FANNY on bbc4 this week too btw

This better be good

The one thing that doesnt gel is Richard T Davies saying its too expensive to send Dr Who on adventures away from earth hence the earthbound stories and the fact they have the money to start a spin off!

Not as if all of Torchwood's money would go into Who if it were not made.

There's also some worry about the ratings of alien planet stories.

The thing is, the Bad Wolf thing is actually very very simple- simply an indication to Rose that she can and should go back to help the Doctor. The reason there is difficulty in understanding it is because people want it to be more than it is, which is in turn because the series hyped it so much. But RTD clearly says he was making it up as he went along, and really the hype was more to do with people guessing who the Bad Wolf was (it made the UK papers when it turned out to be Rose). In series, its effect is very simple, possibly even petty.

Little wonder about Mark Gattis, btw; he's a popular writer and many fans consider The Unquiet Dead to be the proper starting place of the series.

If it's so easy to understand, why can't I understand it? 🙁 Don't anyone dare say I'm thick because I don't. I just don't because I do. Other stuff I can understand fine, quite hard things even. Try Maths.

People don't understand some of it, but I do, even though I got a D & not a C second time around. For me, it's actually really hard to understand, like I mentioned earlier & what I couldn't understand.

Really, that's because you think it is more than it is.

It's as simple as this- after Rose became a 'Time Goddess', she scattered the message 'Bad Wolf' throughout time simply so her earlier self would recognise it as a link between her and the Doctor, and so go to help him.

That is all it is- a message to herself.

All mis-understanding comes from over-complication.

But they were scattered later in her travels & also in the far future, so how did they appear or said in the past?

She scattered it through time...which is what Ush said...not only are you making more of it than it is, you're also not paying attention to what people are saying.

This is in grave danger of becoming hostile. Can we just stop please?

I just heard the second ep involves an alien who feeds on peoples orgasms....yeah thats right....orgasms.

I aint no prude at all...this is a guy belongs to a Dita Von Teese pay site and lists Nekromantik as one of his fave movies but why didnt Russel T keep Captain Jack out of Doctor Who and save his bum flashing and the Torchwood stuff for a seperate project away from Doctor Who.
Now i know a LOT of kids are going to watch Torchwood as the majority of the audience for the new Who are kids...u only got to see the cbbc programme and the waves of merchandise n sticker books(yeh i know adults buy the stuff too..im a Star Wars fan) to know this.
And there is the problem...now im sure they could have done the adult X Files adult storylines but they seem(from what im reading on the net )to have filled this series with a lot of homoerotic sexual content.
Now i dont care about two ladies snogging or orgasm collecting monsters AT ALL but i have a problem with my Rose Tyler mad 9 year old niece seeing this stuff...maybe she wont..but its tough keeping control over what they watch..we all know that and i aint getting into that argument.
People can say "well its not aimed at kids"....well why name drop it at every opportunity in the contents of a family show.
I dont think ive ever heard of a family tv show advertising an adult show ....or maybe i missed the bits in Robin Hood about the spin off featuring Maid Marian taking it up the **** in OH BOO RIND.
I dread to think whats coming in the Sarah Jane/K9 spin off( ive SEEN those kind of videos and they are NOT nice)
im surprised he aint changed the poor cyberdogs name to KY.
This sounds like the rantings of one of the Mary Whitehouse brigade when in fact im a card carrying fan of 80s Video Nasties but summat aint right about this Torchwood.

🤨

Is this Torchwood or Dr Who S:3? Cause I get confused when people talk all over the place..

Torchwood.............there are not going to be any orgasm eating monsters in series 3 of Doctor Who.
There may be allusions to the Master and the Doctor being more than just bunk buddies at the Time Lord academy though.

I still find these complaints about Torchwood to be extremely facile. It's not deliberately 'homoerotic' at all. At the absolute most, it is open minded which is all to the better. Ok, so it has ONE episode where there is a passion based monster. So what? And you cannot detract from the fact this is a decidedly adult show just because it spun off from Doctor Who. Nor is it going to be a hardcore 18 rating, nor is it going to be like that just for the sake of it.

It is, as everm the responsibility of parents to control what their children see, and you cannot censor adult-orientated shows on the basis that kids MIGHT illicitly watch them.

And Captain Jack- who was invented by Stephen Moffat, anyway- was a runaway success story as a character.

Sorry but any chance of dropping adult double entendres or getting a bit of gay stuff in there seems to be Russel T Davis mission...and that is a fact.
I just dont like what hes laced the Doctor Who stories with...and they are all there from "Well, they were bald, athletic, your wife is away" in tooth and claw...to allusions of oral sex with bits of concrete in Love and Monsters.
I wouldnt mind if it was subtle but it aint....my girlfriend and i always waited for the gay referance of the episode....and sure they always was one.
Keep it with Bob N Rose n Queer as Folk.
Dr Who got along just fine with near adult drama in the Baker era without that lot.
Sure Moffat aint gay but he created a gay character in fighter ace gear which is i believe a popular gay stereotype...so its here nor there if he didnt come from the pen of Davis......sure Brigadeer Stewart had a tache and wore a uniform but they didnt feel the need to have him drop his pants to the Sontarians.
Youll find as many haters of mr Harness as there are lovers all over the net.
Sure a lot are homophobes but some of us just dont like Dr Who being turned into Dr Whoooooo!

oh yeah Torchwood
it just has a whole big bisexual vibe to it.....this cannot be denied
and yip ill be watching the first episodes but the fact was and always will remain that Torchwood was PIMPED to death on Dr Who so kids will find a way to watch.
I dont want any censoring...i want RTD to have created a seperate show for adults from the success of Dr Who and kept Captain Jack out of Who and saved him for the aforementioned seperate show.
I find some of what i type on this subject a bit off for me.
I just like Dr Who and have done for an age and there are other things i dont like but i dunno this just niggles me.
and yes i am quite sure of my sexuality Mr Kinsey .

ive just re read that after an hour or sos posting..............woah do i sound like Angry of Kent off POINTS OF VIEW!

Well maybe i was wrong and its been there all along
looks like the brigadeer liked a bit of pocket billiards whilst discussing the threat of Sea Devils/dodgy dinosaurs and Sontarians
and wasnt Alpha Centaurai shaped like a huge CO**

So will there be a seperate Torchwood thread after tonight ????
i promise constructive critisizm

RT Davies has announced whilst he is in charge there wont be a Dr over the age of 50.

Bugger.

I thought it was 40. I think he has a cheek really. Eddie Izzard is someone I would love to see play Dr Who. Think he is under 50 🙂 But over 40 🙁

Its in this months SFX mag
There goes my Ian McDiarmid idea
I would put a bet on it being Mark Gattis for the next Doctor.
