Old band arn't the greatest ever, its the opposite, (at least in my opinion) simply because, while they may have invented it, people built upon it and made it better. the Kinks may have invented guitar distortion, but (correct me if you think differently) Morrello perfected it, or at least for the time being, I have no doubt that later on, someone will build upon what Morrello did, and become even greater.
Well if anyone perfected the sound of guitar distortion, it would be Kevin Shields, quite a few years before Rage came along, but he used it in a very, very different way from Morello so it's hard to say.
Oh and I won't say who I think are musically the best rock band of all time, because last time I did I was shot down in a bloody massacre of disagreement.
