why is it that 90 percent of the people i have heard who have long used weed sound slow. Its enough to the point where you can pick them up by sound.
This posts commits several logic fallacies including hasty generalization, unrepresentative sample, Post Hoc, and wrong direction. Sorry, try again.

In 1972, after reviewing the scientific evidence, the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse concluded that while marijuana was not entirely safe, its dangers had been grossly overstated. Since then, researchers have conducted thousands of studies of humans, animals, and cell cultures. None reveal any findings dramatically different from those described by the National Commission in 1972. In 1995, based on thirty years of scientific research, editors of the British medical journal Lancet concluded that "the smoking of cannabis, even long term, is not harmful to health."None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term, high-dose use. An early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a more recent study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back over 25 years that has never been supported by any scientific study.
Marijuana does produce immediate, temporary changes in thoughts, perceptions, and information processing. Short-term memory is the cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana use. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. This diminishment only lasts for the duration of the intoxication. There is no evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions.
For 25 years, researchers have searched for a marijuana-induced amotivational syndrome and have failed to find it. People who are intoxicated constantly, regardless of the drug, are unlikely to be productive members of society. There is nothing about marijuana specifically that causes people to lose their drive and ambition. In laboratory studies, subjects given high doses of marijuana for several days or even several weeks exhibit no decrease in work motivation or productivity. Among working adults, marijuana users tend to earn higher wages than non-users and college students who use marijuana maintain the same grades as non-users. Among high school students, heavy use is associated with school failure, but school failure usually comes first.
I dunno, I think that the statement about inhaling the equivelant of 5 joints a day would do some kind of damage. Ive seen people completely lose it after smoking it heavily for a year, they became aggressive, slow etc. Not saying its bad if you have it in reasonable quantaties at appropriate times, its I find it hard to believe that exposing your brain to high doses of THC for long periods of time wouldnt have at least SOME adverse affect. A lot of my friends do is recreationally, socially, theyll have like a joint or to at a prty every now and then, they dont do it any other time, and most of them are uni students with perfect grades, basically really cool people. Then theres the people that smoke it uncontrollably, every day, they dont even have time to recover from one high when they go and smoke some more, THOSE are the people I think thhat will suffer some sort of mental disorders.
not to mention that inhaling ANY smoke is harmful and potentially deadly, from cigarettes and weed, to campfires and barbeques.
but as AC said, you can cook with pot, and not only that but it gives you a stronger, longer lasting high than when smoked.
however, like i said in a post long ago, its all about moderation, as with most things we enjoy. you spend all your time stoned and you just may forget what its like to be sober. people who smoke constantly become detatched from reality and usually become lethargic depressed shut-ins. thats why i believe mental disorders are spawned in such a case. pot could be considered part of the cause, but imho it all boils down to the old saying 'an idol mind is the devils workshop'. if you spend all your time shut-in when completely sober you still will probably become detatched and find it difficult to function professionally and socially.

I think almost everything that could be said has been said on this post, but I thought i may as well chime in my bit.
As PVS said, its all about moderation. Some people go home after a bad day and have a drink. Personally I go home and have a J (or two).
They are both harmful, they are both intoxicating, yet alcohol which is legal is responsible for a far larger quantity of deaths per year. There has never been a death certificate printed with the words "Cannabis Overdose" on it.
I do like a drink too, but if I want to relax then smoking is my favorite way to do it. No hang over.. Alcohol also has a nasty tendency to lead to aggression. Think for just a moment how many people you know who have been assaulted by someone who was drunk, or someone you know you gets aggressive while drunk. Then compare it to stoners..
When was the last time you saw the headline "Man high on cannabis murders X amount of people"? The only thing you feel the compulsion to murder when your high is a pizza.. 🙂
Yes, it can vary from person to person, but from my social circle (most smoke weed) there is one who gets aggressive while drunk, and none when we're smoking. Small group so small numbers, but hey.
I could rant on for a while more about legalisation, but I'll stop for now.

http://my.webmd.com/content/Article/53/61380.htm?printing=trueIts a common lie that pot is a safe drug. Don't let people fool you by telling you it is. I wasted about 2-3 years smoking the stuff in my teens and it was a total waste, thank goodness i didn't smoke it longer!!
So don't buy into the BS that weed is a natural drug that is good for you. Poison Ivy is natural, should you rub that over your body?
Read these articles, and think twice before thinking weed is harmless

Nicelly said Sethcx.Weed does indeed make you relaxed - there is no case of weed making someone hyper or violent, but such notion is very difficult to explain to some people.
Yeah..makes you relax and forget what you were doing...like,,hummm where was I going?? Oh, yea...I was heading for the bathroom...And OH, yeah, you talk to yourself alot.
