ive never had a drinking problem and hope i never will so i cant imagine how hard it is to cope with that sort of problem.
i feel so sorry for him. i cant explain why. i think maybe its cos a great player like him had to die how he did.

He wasn't a great player when he died. He was a great player, he threw it away from the choice of drink and drugs. Now I'm not saying he had no right to make that choice, but he doesn't deserve pity.
Nobody forced him to take the drugs, or the drink. He chose to. He got given a new liver, he wasted it.

Indeed he had a chance after 2002 to stop boozing. Instead his wife left him, he hit the bottle and spiralled downwards.
A lot of people had respect for him as a talented player. Sadly he didnt have that same respect for himself.

He left Man Utd because he the manager dropped him for a big game and Best never forgive him for that. Also the team was not performing well after they won the European Cup.
My favourite quote from George Best is when asked about David Beckham:
"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's alright."
He also didn't regret anything he had done all the time drinking people tryed to get him to stop but he thought he lived the best life possible.

Exactly, the man thought he lived the best life possible. He had more in his life than many people could even dream. Especially during the times he broke through. Some Irish boy with not a whole lot in the brain area, it just so happened he had a great footballing talent. He lived the high life, he lived it all the way to the grave. He got a liver that could have gone to someone more deserving AND appreciative of it than he was, purely because of who he was. He threw away all his chances so the fact that he is dead doesn't bother me. He doesn't deserve pity.
I'm not saying I'm glad he died, I'm saying he got what most people would get. Some people never get a second chance, he got one wrongly and still threw it away.

Well that is your opinion that he wasted his the life he had.
I personally think that he was happy with the life he lived and he didn't have any regrets when he died.
1st he didn't have liver cancer.
2nd he didn't die from drink related illness.
From Wikipedia,On 3 October 2005 Best was admitted to intensive care at the private Cromwell Hospital in London, suffering from kidney problems caused by the side-effects of drugs used to prevent his body from rejecting his transplanted liver (The drugs specifically suppress the immune system, reducing the chance of rejection, but increasing the risk of infections).
Drink didn't kill him the drugs given to him killed him because it decressed his ability to fight off infections. which meant when he got an infection of the liver his body couldn't fight it off.
