Too slow for an edit, but who cares? Not I! Anyway...

The England captain is not a very bright man. In regards to the result against Croatia:

"It has been two steps forward and one step back and it is really disappointing we have taken that step backwards. We need to be taking four steps forward rather than two, and really kicking on."

- John Terry

My team would be this:

GK: Robinson/Carson
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Terry
LB: Bridge
RB: Neville
DM: Hargreaves
CM: Gerrard
LW: J.Cole
RW: Beckham
OMF: Lampard
CF: Rooney

So, apart from Bridge, it's pretty much the team that sucked the big one at the World Cup?

You should be England manager. You've got the qualifications...

so what exactly has been wrong with ashley cole's performances?

You talkin' to me? It ain't ma team, it's his. Ma team had ol' Cole. I selected him mainly due to his principals and clarity. Also, he seems like a pretty smart fellow, and I like that, I do. I like that.

im talking to the guy who put bridge in the team

After his cameos for England so far, I think it's obvious that Lennon should be playing on the right when he is fit. Then, if you put Cole on the other side, with Gerrard alongside someone in the middle, we would have a genuinely threatening and creative midfield.

I agree with the Terry comments, but seeing as he's been made captain, he's there to stay.

I still say my team - abeit slightly alterated - is the best, so far...

------------------------Robinson---------------------------

Neville-----------Ferdinand-----King------------Cole-----

--------------------------------------------------------------

----------------Gerrard--------Hargreaves----------------

Lennon-----------------Rooney-------------------Cole----

---------------------------Owen-----------------------------

Now, that would be a team worth watching! Which, if you think about it, really should be the only consideration when picking a team to play a game of football. Football is, first and foremost, a form of entertainment, so teams should be picked on their ability to entertain.

well thats the exact team u put out 😉 u might aswell of quoted me 😛

Did Hargreaves suck?? Me thinks not.....Carson didn't even play, Rio and JT were one of a few highlights, Gerrard is "world class" according to you

Do your homework next time junior 😛

Ashley Cole isn't very extensive in his abilities, he has pace, and the ability to overlap, whereas Bridge is a fantastic crosser of the ball, and defends brilliantly, has had a better season than Cole so far, and picking players on form is what I like to do

i like bridge also. i woudnt mind seeing him again.

Ah, but teams perform as a collective, and your collective played shit together. Good try, though.

No Owen? That's not smart. Cole over Bridge and actually I'd like to see Beckham back on the team.

we need owen. at least he scores goals. when he plays, rooney and lampard play better. i would put beckham back into squad but not the team. what sort of message would that give out to players like lennon and shaun phllips.
