Yeah?

Why do you keep using Berbatov, Defoe, Keane and Mido then?

Although it lacks all of the components of a joke, my intuition tells me that this was your intention.

Anyway, I read an article over the weekend about how the Premiership is currently the lowest scoring league in Europe! Yes! Behind even Serie A! Here's the article:

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2006/12/03/where_have_all_the_goals_gone.html

He raises some interesting points about why this may be the case; fewer great goalscorers and increasingly defensive tactical influence from managers like Benitez and Allardyce, being the most obvious ones.

So, any thoughts?

yes.

i hope benitez and sam rot and lie stinking in the earth, for all the negative tactics.

Psssaahahahha, actually it's a line with four jokes in it. New record.

There are less goals because everyone now sets up not to lose, rather than to win (with a few exceptions).

Oh, that really is a good one. I knew I could believe in you to redeem yourself.

I don't get to watch a million and one Premiership matches, but do you find the games to be poorer in quality as a result?

Yes- they're shit. Imagine Switzerland and Ukraine at the World Cup, though not quite so terrible.

It's not so bad when it happens against Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea, because those three tend to attack a lot to compensate.

Oooo, Henry and Wenger...handbags at dawn!

Get it? Like gunslingers, but they're pussies! So instead of guns, I've created this scenario where they're fighting with hand-bags! Genius!

Spurs 4 - Middlesbrough 0

(If I book them, they will come)

Go NUFC! We beat Reading today! Thank you Emre!

united got the win they needed against a rather poor benfica team in a rather dour match...

carrick, i like carrick, i do, there was a time when i considered him to be a player with the potential to be a glen hoddle-esque player that can run a game... but no. the guy's just not cut out for it. if he can't cut it, then he has no business being in the team. and imo this is probably the weakest so-called full strength midfield at man utd in a long time...

ferguson's assertion that ronaldo is a victim, and isnt a cheat is complete bullsh*t... the guy is as bad as if not worse than drogba... i think ronaldo has some incredible talent, but he lacks the simple cop-on to use it without trying to cheat his way through matches...

if ferguson truly believes ronaldo isnt a cheat, then he is incredibly deluded imo...

barca was a poor match, the odd bit of ronaldinho brilliance pretty much the only highlight (and even he didnt play that well in the second half, in fact he was rather crap imo)

chelsea... i have to laugh at the commentator on itv who said it was a fine game of football... yeah, right... i wonder what match he was watching...

which leads me back to the point that the english media is so intent on kissing the ass of premiership clubs, that they'll talk and talk in a vain attempt to make people believe the spew that comes from their mouths...

i still have the memory of the world cup, when graeme souness came over to be a panelist on irish television, and the look of shock on his face when one of our most prominent panelists (a guy called eamonn dunphy, you may or may not have heard of him), quite rightly berated the english players after the paraguay match for their lack of talent and conviction, and souness himself went on to enjoy the freedom to be as honest as he pleased, praising players who performed and berating players who didnt...

itv (bbc and sky too) seriously need to stop acting like the yes-men that they are...

Oh, dear...Spurs...bit good. Bit.

What was that VD was saying about the Spurs strikers?

What?

No, what?

What?

congrats to spurs. beating a team playing severly shit recently and are sitting at the bottom of the league. how i envy spurs🙂

Well, that's only 2 defeats in the last 14 games for Spurs. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Oh, it's also the biggest win in any Premiership game this season. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Let's face it, Deano could have gotten a hat-trick against Charlton.

Berbatov is rather tasty though.

(Not at football).

martin jol makes me laugh:

"yea well its good for us, Malbranque got his first goal, Teemu got his goal, Berbatov scored two... it was a good game"

Defoe scored as well... but god forbid he acknowledges something good from Defoe haha, he's spurned numerous chances to praise defoe over the last week or two, even from direct questions about him.

Also, Huddlestone... is gold.

I hope it isn't portentous to him being sold in January. That would suck VD's twiglet.

Huddlestone is the bomb, yo. I don't think there has been another English midfielder like him in a long time. He reminds me a little of Rijkaard in his playing days...so majestic he should be riding a horse with bells on it.

I can only imagine the first sentence was schizophrenic self-advice, given the content of the other paragraph.

Well, well, well...Look whose imagination is off with the 'eye-worms' and 'caterpillar fairies' again...

(You...as in 'your'. 'Your imagaination' is...eh, Your imagination is off with those things I said. They're not real. Only in your mind. The End.)

I think Essien's goal was better.

a goal like that pops up a bunch of times every season... how many times have you seen a 45yrd left footed volley?
