Rangers did a good job over in Lyon, I have beena Lyon supporter for nearly 5 years now and they are solid in the champions league. After Gerard H left I think they have went into a slump. But I was well gloating when Rangers were drawn with Lyon, but Rangers got Lyon good.

SPL is what it is....the scottish league, we dont need to be compared to the prem league or championship. I am happy enough watching my Aberdeen team and cheering them on against opposition like Falkirk or St Mirrern 🙂

Now....The dons are back in europe and luckily enough we are in the "group of death", so its gonna be great revenue to keep some of our players at the club for the further years.
I have booked myself to Madrid for the athletico game but couldnt get time off work in time for the Panithiakos game 🙁

My mate told me that Madrid and Panth were at home, I was miffed because it meant I would have to settle to go to Copenhagen (where its expensive for booze)...I dont think I would have went to Moscow, no thank you.

My heart says we wont finish top 3 to progress to the next phase - the next phase would be a tough one as it includes the team who finished 3rd in the champions league....and as we know that could be a BIG TEAM. Perhaps Lyon or as things go Inter!

Anyways guys, I am off to Hampden on Saturday to cheer on the every impressing Scotland team against our Ukraine counterparts, tough game but hpefully we can break them down to get a victory. COME ON THE SCOTS

Discos - good luck to all the other home nations to qualify, especialy Northern Ireland who are living it up at the mo...

What's with Lyon continually selling off their good players? Seems like they've finally stretched it to breaking point.

Thats the problem with the big teams which arn´t "mega" teams. When the begin to progress, do well some other team comes along and buys off their top effective players. Ok teams need money to expand, building bigger stadiums etc but it is nevertheless sad. The big teams get richer because they are always in europe, the small ones tend to just miss the Champions league.

What's everyone's Premier League dream team (current form)?

I'll say:

Cech

Sagna Laursen Vidic Clichy

Elano Fabregas Flamini Petrov

RVP Anelka

Reina

Richards Vidic Laursen Evra

Elano Fabregas Petrov

Anelka Keane Tevez

I win.

van der sar

richards vidic ferdinand clichy

ronaldo fabregas flamini petrov

adebayor rvp

10 out of 12 games with clean sheets isnt too bad for vidic and ferdinand, not to mention van der sar coming up big when hes needed to.

Tim Breaker.

That's it.

-AC

Hmm.

Ferdinand and Vidic are the CBs in the team keeping the clean sheets, but I'm still not convinced they're in the best form in that position. Against Birmingham, Man Utd's luck was a joke.

sweet dudes, Scotland defeated Ukraine 3-1 at the glorious stadium of Hampden. Great atmosphere. I'll post some of the photos I took, got some took with Ukraine guys.

Well next up is Georgia away - really tough game, it was a nail biting 90minutes at Hampden earlier in the year but we got the 89th minute winner. I think that was an experiment team though - Scott Brown, Beattie and McManus were all brought in on debuts I believe and now they are stars in the team.

nice one to Republic of Ireland for keeping the Germans to a goalless draw, england winning 3-0 also. I had Wright-Phillips to score first but only if the result was 2-0, ouch.

Yeh well done Scotland, playing really well but you have to give Alex McLeish a lot of credit for some intelligent tactical decisions. Just shows what a good manager can achieve.

The sad thing is theres still a lot to do for Scotland, two difficult games ahead just hope Italy or France slip up in the last 2 games to make it easier.

Well England played crap but still managed a 3:0 win, they tend to adapt to their opponents, and play like them.

didn't see the england game or any other highlights bar the goals, how easy was the first goal for SWP.

Last time I can remember england playing well?....maybe perhaps against Sweden at the World Cup.

Alotof work to to do for Scotland, I just pray we get the result we need in Gerogia to make it down to the last game of our qualifiers against Italy at Hampden. Italy and France dont play this Wednesday so we could possibly be 4 points ahead of the group with the other two a game to spare.

Its kind of frustrating that if Enlgand defeat Russia then they qualify with a game to spare - that totally overshadows the scottish team who have worked hard and had the results we need.

Yeh Englands group is a joke compared to Scotlands, both world cup finalists being in it.

If Scotland played better outside this tournament, theyd be higher in the rankings and then have a better seeding, so they wouldnt get such tough groups...

AHA but, I heard on the radio that even if Scotland doesn´t qualify for the European Country Cup, their good results will mean they won´t be in pot 4, that is lower seeded, in the next World Cup qualifying draw.

Lets hope they make it though, I can see France not making it, not very impressive on the goal scoring front lately & without Zidane they are a shadow of their former selves.

And this competition is quite good at having unpredictable winners, like Greece and Denmark in the past. So Scotland could get far.

Theyre gonna have to go pillage Africa for their next generation of 'French' stars.

^^ sad but true, only true french player in that team I rank is Ribery - me and my best friend didnt like the look of him at the world cup as he reminded us of this drunk we know from our town - but he did amazing at the world cup.

Yup Berti Vogts reign forced our seedings down a great deal, think we were 88th in the world rankings before the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Anyways, no glory in finishing 3rd. If it turns out that it does come down to Scotland needing a point against Italy and we get the point then that means its all down to France beating Ukraine in Kiev to qualify and ITALY NOT.

Its going to come down to the wire - I can see it actually coming down to us praying that Ukraine defeat France on the wednesday after our Italy game - I Pray it doesnt though.

Also - this whole carryon with Russias artificial pitch - big wow, what a fuss over nothing. If that was ourselves, Wales or Ireland then I dont think we would have got a side column in the newspapers for the state of the pitch.

Discos - England always seem to have excuses at the ready for games, the last one I remember is the tabloids pushing the blame on the Youth System in england?? honestly.

Sagna, Sagnol, Gallas, Clichy, Evra, Abidal, Vieira, Makelele, Diarra, Malouda, Ribery, Govou, Trezeguet, Henry.

There aren't many other teams who have the same quality of players. They don't seem to play that well together though.

Spot the one French guy... i'll give you a hint, it behins with R

EDIT: aww, I just noticed theres two.. damn you Sagnol!! but then again, he wouldn't be in the team anyway, it'd be Thuram, who is also African.

Sagnol is their current right-back, unless Sagna has now properly replaced him.

I know they are all of African descent, but I wasn't making that point. They are all eligible to play for France, regardless of origin.

In my opinion international football is shit anyway. The tournaments are good, but otherwise it just gets in the way of proper football.

Yes, like CRonaldo winking got them knocked out of the World Cup. The idiotic thing is that by always having a ready-made 'we got screwed' excuse, they never actually improve.

about international football being shit....

me and a mate were having a debate about if the top club teams could compete against international sides. he claims that international teams are like an all star team. for me though its the club teams that is the all star. with national teams you have only a limited number of players to choose from, with club teams you can buy anyone as long as you have the money. so my point is that some club teams should beat international teams.

my opinion anyways.
