What a **** up

"Given the astonishing turnaround, how England had cause to rue Steven Gerrard's glaring miss immediately after the break when he was left completely free at the far post as Barry delivered the perfect free-kick.

Had the Liverpool man realised the time available to him he would surely have taken a touch. Instead, he attempted a side-footed shot first time and fired wide.

Gerrard's error was ultimately to prove extremely costly and it could even have been worse for England as Ferdinand almost turned the ball into his own net. ".

Gonna just let that sit for a while.

Let it mull around the ol' noggin.

Of course if that had been Lampard it's all anyone would notice. Because it's Gerrard, excuses will come like waves in a disaster movie.

Thats quite a good Gerrard dig AC, nice to see some people don´t miss opportunity's🙂

Well Russia played better and deserved to win imo. They were all over England in the second half

Russia's movement off the ball, passing the ball, possession & passion were all there. Their style had Gus Hiddink & the Dutch football philosophy written all over it . They lacked the finishing in the first half though.

Rooney scored a nice goal (see link for video) but why do England stop playing after scoring? Its then that the opponents try and get the equalizer with haste after all.

One good thing will come out of this, England might get a decent manager in time for the qualifying for the world cup. Although the FA are so dense I wouldn´t depend on it. This campaign is over.

Just noticed that Scotland are bottling it in Georgia, 2:0 down. No British teams in the European cup 2008 then🙂

we're in...first of all teams and now for some lil' show and tell with Czechs..

I wanted to watch that game but my wife insists on watching Stargate 🙁

No England V Germany penalty shoot outs next year then🙁

i think EC '96 finale was and will be the last game between Germany and England, that ended in a penalty shoot out, for a very long time...srug

The next game might be in the World Cup Quali´s.🙂

Your Loosing 0:2 against the Czechs, whats up has Yogi send the B Mannschaft out again🙂

weep

Georgia: 2
Scotland: 0

How did it all go wrong tonight? Beating France and Ukraine and losing to Georgia....we need to beat Italy now to go through.

not really...but it seems like, with all the pressure gone, ze Germanz were given a bit of leeway in their actions, which is never good as we can see...
Germany plays best with their backs against the wall....at least so it seems 😬

What does it matter?

Bicnarok- it could actually work out better for them if they do replace McClaren as a result. They'd have only gone out early anyway. They still can qualify, though; it just seems highly unlikely.

Nobody misses a chance to fellate him when he does f*ck all, so I'm not gonna miss a chance to bring his mess-ups to light when he actually deserves it.

Damn guys....DAMN. did Scotland even play football tonight? I will give my honest opinion who played for the shirt tonight for Scotland, and that players are:

McFadden and Barry Ferguson.

Begin to disagree with me anyway you want. Pearson and Fletcher... none of the two were in the game tonight, at all.

Maloney? should neveer have of started. McFadden at left wing with Boyd playing behind Miller.

Anyways, No Excuses, if 23 players can't gel as a "team" then they arnt classed as a team.

Discos - bring on Italy, Hampden is ready!

oh you better be...this is going to be hell on earth!

yup, Italy have released press statments claiming we wil bottle it...unfortunatly we have.

I have to state this - HAMPDEN IS A FORTRESS - not lost to a team this qualifier, however we havn't played Italy at home.

As a scotsman, still drunk and still with my football head screwed on---- I believe our hopes are over, sorry people but we cannot compte against WORLD champions when it comes down to a MUST WIN game.

The only person I can think better at a free kick than Pirlo is juninho.

I think Scotland will have 100% availability for the Italy game: Gordon, Hutton, McManus, Weir, Naysmith, Fletcher, Brown, Ferguson, McCulloch, McFadden, Miller.

If we fail with that team then we actually dont deserve championships.

Discos - thank you scotland for the performances you have gacve, you truley are the greatest team I have witnessed in 10 years, I will tell my children of your exploits...THANK YOU

hehe...that's the pathos you need right now...come on, think! who would've thought that they could beat France two times?! And generally France is considered stronger than Italy...is say everything is possible!

thats football mate, france has had a rubbish campaign, yet scotland had had the most amazing campaign in a decade yet we are struggling to qualify now.

Yaya is a different player to Gerrard though; he's like a dynamic holding player. Gerrard hasn't got the discipline or necessary skills to do that.

Not taking away from what he is good at, obviously.

Especially considering he was 4th choice CM at his own club, and now he is playing there, they completely lack any invention at all, and are in terrible form.

So what exactly does Yaya do better than Gerrard? pass? tackle? shoot? read the game?

Toure hasnt exactly been a 'dynamic holding midfielder' for Barcelona anyway, he's just been a central midfielder in a club full of attacking midfielders. he still shows up on the edge of the box alot.

Gerrard would perform the role they have Yaya doing at Barcelona better than Yaya is now.

1 - 0 up and you ****ed up!

LMAO

I´d have to agree with you, but he wasn´t the only one. Apart from providing Rooney with a header pass for the goal Owen looked very lost.
SWP kept loosing the ball & Joe Cole's usual trickery was nullified.

What bothered me the most was how the Russians had so much room to, pass and move, the England players were to far away from their opponents. Ok they were playing zonally, not man marking but that was really ineffective in the second half.

Oh well its over now, and Its a good think to get a new manager for the World cup campaign. Any ideas who it´ll be?

Tackle, read the game, break up play and start attacks.

That's how I'd define a dynamic holding midfielder.

Well, let's see him perform well for Liverpool or England first, then we can move to the serious stuff.

They're more or less all shit, and it's been apparent for ages now.

Let's be honest- it'll still be McC**t.
