Haha I'd argue like that if it was a Spurs topic... but we all know in football results are results, in professional sport its very hard to actually put anything down to pure luck. When Arsenal finish above Liverpool 2 seasons in a row, i'll say Arsenal are better, but you cant make assessments 1/3 of the way into a season, Liverpool arent exactly down and out, and Arsenal arent exactly running away with the league.Theyre both good teams, but all you can effectively go on atm is recent history, and Liverpool win that hands down.
Results don't actually prove anything besides "We won.". It may be what matters, but it doesn't prove who is the better team overall.
Look at the stats for the Arsenal/Liverpool game. Every single stat aside from the final score, was in Arsenal's favour. Possession, attempts, passing. Andy Gray couldn't even deny it. The only decent chance they had was the free kick, and that was because Flamini moved out of the way.
That and the fact that Carragher keeps getting away with fouling in the box. Not even just to Arsenal.
Results are what matters if you wanna count wins, they do not show who is necessarily the better team, though. Italy won the World Cup, they weren't the best team in the tournament.
Liverpool are never playing amazing football. They may have got enough wins to finish above Arsenal for a monumental two seasons, but my point is, it's a bit stupid to keep insisting they'll win the league or contend. Why? They haven't done so for over a decade, they remain contenders. Arsenal have won in multiple times since, once they were even undefeated.
Or we can look at last season where Arsenal whooped them shamelessly on their own ground, then again, and then again. At least I think it was three games, maybe two.
