My team (Rangers) signed Frank De Boer the other day. Now we have both De Boer brothers. Maybe past their best but they can hopefully stop us from losing any more points in the league.

Now a player not interfering with play, or obstructing the view of another player is not offside when the ball is first played.

Yesterday Ruud.VN was played offside by defenders as a free-kick was played into the box, but because he never touched it first the flag stayed down. Anyway, the ball was kicked by a couple of other players (all this in a matter of seconds) and RVN ended up scoring. In my eyes the horsey looking poacher was offside when the ball was played, but not according to the FA's new "clarification of the offside rule" ( 😂 ), so the goal was counted.

Sounds like the same old rule. 😑

Not really, the offside trap is no longer as safe for defenders.

Well the rule was pretty blurry and difficult to judge. I mean if a ref didnt lift the flag and the player was off-side but did not interfere with the play till much later it was a wrong call. But if he did immediately lift the flag it would be a wrong call because the player had no interference. Hard to predict whats going to happen 😉

The offside system should be replaced by the classic schoolyard rule of Goal-hanging!

Thing is though, the refs and asisstants sometimes don't pick up on players being offside and because of that, goals are being allowed when they shouldn't. I think that football needs to come into the 21st century and start using video replays for the refs so they can get a different view of it and microphones so that eveyone can hear what is being said like in rugby.

Are you all actually debating the necessity of Offsides? Maybe they should get rid of all the lines on the field next and people should start using their hands instead of their feet.
