assuming they still have richards and dunne, and they hit form, i think they'll be fine. wayne bridge isn't too bad, though i'd worry about their right back. add on Toure to that, though and that's a more solid looking defence.

I think Manchester City could break into the top 4 but dont see them winning the league title.

I agree, they might need a couple more seasons to build an elite team.

fckin chelsea...

what Ballack did, wasn't that illegal?

I like Capello´s new strategy, pass the ball to the opponent near the goal so they can score a couple of goals first, so they have a false sense of dominance, then surprise them with a few substitutions and a striker who usually does nothing, but suddenly can...... what an odd game that was🙂

Scotland 0:4, now that was a stuffing🙂

So which teams are your picks for the upcoming World Cup.

Mine are.
Brazil
Germany
Spain

I reckon some African team will win, with it being in Africa and the fact that there isn´t much difference between the top teams any more, not to mention that horrible noise that the fans there make with them trumpet things, it drives me crazy just watching the confed cup on TV, must be a nightmare playing there.

Brazil arn´t playing proper Brazilian with Dunga, little flair and skill lots of set pieces.

Germany might not even make it and even if they do they won´t get far as they lack quality in depth.

So, Benitez opts to blame a ref for being too young, rather than his team playing shit.

I wonder what tactic that is.

Its the Managers favourite excuse tactic, blame the ref🙂

Pretty pathetic really.

It may be early days, but with Song developing and Vermaelen impressing by the minute, I'd say Arsene Wenger made the two signings that will push Arsenal toward superiority again (In Arshavin and Vermaelen).

People enjoy the 1st weekend of the premiership? Exciting weekend, no draws... Good to see Liverpool lose!

Interesting start, Man U loosing to Burnley and Spurs top and playing well.

I highly doubt any African team is going to win the World cup (i wish though). My money is still on the tried and tested teams like Brazil and i think Spain despite their confed cup disgrace will do pretty well too.

My money is on Spain for the World Cup... They didn't do great in the Confederations cup but they have some quality players. Going to support my boys England though.

(Didn't read the post above me until after the post.... I agree)

I doubt Spain will win it, experienced managers will know how to destroy thier attractive football. A team like Greece will probably beat them with their "lets all defend and score a goal from an odd corner in the last minute" tactic.

I Definetly think an African team is gonn win it, in fact I might even bet on one. The question is which one.

No African team is going to win the World Cup. It's more laughable to say that now than it was back in 2006, when everyone said Ivory Coast was going to progress far in to the tournament. Two matches later, they were stuck on 0 points and Argentina and Holland had already progressed to the next round. I personally think that African football is majorly overrated.

I can't really make a prediction, I never can. From it's first edition onwards the WC has almost always had surprising winners.

It's alwyas hard to say who has got a good chance, because a lot of teams do. It really depends on the draws and stuff. Even England stands a chance this time... As we have a manager who isn't shit.

But the players are mostly shit, and not a world class keeper in sight. You need a world class keeper to win the world cup.
