Ha that was an interesting evening in the Confed cup. The USA beat Egypt 3:0; Brazil beat Italy 3:0 so the USA went through to the semi finals on goal difference🙂Italy have to seriously think of getting some younger new talent in the team, otherwise they won´t get far next year in the world cup.

Damn and i was looking forward to brazil spain. However this problem is similar to the one Barcelona had. With Spains heavy concentration of players in the midfield they were vulnerable to counter attacks after USA had soaked up all the pressure, similar to what happened between Chelsea and Barcelona. While Barca were able to pull it out in the end, spain werent.
Now though all we have to look forward to is the rout the brazil will dish out to USA in that final
Can't say I'm really surprised to see USA in the finals of the Confed Cup. They'll probably never beat Spain again, and if they were to play a match that really mattered like in a WC match, Spain would most likely destroy them. However they did really well at the Olympics with their U21 team which is now basically their national squad. They nearly beat us (the Netherlands) at that tournament who at the time won the European U21 Championship two consecutive times, if it wasn't for a late equaliser. They have some experienced Premier League players like Dempsey and such, and some really talented youth players like, Adu (who still has to live up to his hype), Klejstan and Altidore.
Still, Brazil will probably beat them. Spain has always been known to be underachievers, which is why they've only been European Champion twice, while they easily could have been World Champions one or two times considering the teams they've had throughout the years, and again, like the Netherlands are known for slipping up matches against (in potential, I'm sure the USA played well last night) inferior opponents.
Probably 3-0 for Brazil.
conratulations USA you showed the world how to beat Spain.
I noticed a lot of people didn´t appreciate the performance for various reasons, "Spain were tired" they "Didn´t take the tournament seriously" etc.
I think it was an excellent performance, the USA coach played the right tactics & team which draws the USA in next years world cup better not take them lightly or they might get a rood awakening.
Lets just hope footy doesn´t come too popular in the USA, if they throw their resources into it like they do other sports, they might end up dominating the sport in the future. especially if you consider the diversity of races in the USA.
The ridiculous situation that people in the USA have to pay lots of money to have their kids play in clubs is of course a big spanner in the works.

England v Germany final on monday then. How do the Germans always get so far with average teams, this baffles me.
Recently it hasn't been average teams.
It's been a few world class players and mostly average players who can play as a team like a machine.
England would do well to learn.
