Pfffft.
Cheering English teams? Me? Nae likely. I'm nae likely to cheer on the Old Firm either. Those two representing Scotland is far from good.
Any Scots team outside OF gets my support in Europe.
Indifferent to the English, except teams that I determine have too many fuds in the team like: Cole, Pires, Van Persie, Lauren, Vieira, Lehmann, Wenger, Reyes, Henry, Ljunberg. All diving, whiny, petulent, dirty sods.
If an English tea get to the final they will have my wholehearted anti-support. The media would be intolerable. Not to mention the smugness. *shudders*
baracustastic: Regarding your sig.
All forms of ball sports where the ball can be kicked at any point is football ie Rugby Union football, Rugby League Football, Association Football, American Football, Gaelic football etc etc. Soccer comes from the shortening of Association and is called soccer by Europeans, Americans and some of us that play rugby and call Rugby football 😛
I am aware of the egg-chasers and Aussies and gaelic etc......
I have no problem with Gaelic and Aussie rules being referred to as football because both involve a lot of kicking, in fact you could say it is the main ingredient.
As for rugby. Most points scored using hands. Invented by people who were rubbish at football. Egg-chasing. Here's the thing - no-one I know calls rugby, football. They call it "rugby", "union" or "League." Depending on the code.
American Football, on the other hand, kicking is a marginal part of the game. The word "Soccer" was not widespread where I'm from till after the world cup in '94. So I blame Americans.
