i don't know if i agree but it was nonetheless interesting.
I think it just shows obi wan will use anything he needs to to win. He merley marked his discust after using a blaster because it is not a jedi's weapon of choice and they are very elitest
still interesting idea

No it does not show that Obiwan would resort to anything. It represents the change from glory days of the Republic rule in contrast to the rise of the Empire. In the Republic, it was the jedi who kept the piece with their weapon of choice the lightsaber. Under the Empire, the weapon of "Rule" would be the blaster. their are no Jedi, "That race is extinct" except for the 2 exciles and twins. No Jedi, no lightsabers, no more. Now, the blaster is dominant weapomn in the galactic system far away. Obiwans use of a blaster, and then saying "uncivilized implies that the jedi with thier sabers are no more, and that the "uncivilized " blaster is now the wewapon of choice. BAZING!!!!

Sorry GoatsMilk, you need to learn manners, and better than that, you need to learn how to work in a workshop and create constructive criticism rather than just blantanly attempting to use dialect and modern vernacular. I think you do too.

By the way; great thoughts on Obi and the blaster thing.

Han Solo kind of solidified the fact that lightsabers had become virtually outdated when he said ""Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

Good observation, man.

Eddy, you completely do away with all of the coolness of your original thoughts when you get angry and blow up at someone whose opinion is different from your own. Just relax! 😉

The significance in why Obiwan uses a blaster to destroy Gen. Greivous instead of a lightsaber is a symbolic gesture identifying a change from using an elegant jedi lightsaber(prequels) instead of a clumsy blasters(ep IV). When obiwan kills Greivous with blaster instead of a saber, it identifies a turning point in the series. A point where having a blaster at your side was more secure. When Obi destroys greivous, he throws blaster to oneside and says " uncivilized". In a New Hope, old Obiwan in a disscussion with Han Solo debate the use of a lightsaber when compared to a blaster. Obiwan mentions that the use of a lightsaber was not as "clumsy and radom" as a blaster, and he continues saying " a lightsaber was the weapon used in a more civilized time(during the Rebulic/Jedi counsil dayz). So, using the blaster demostrates that a turning point in SW era was occuring. a turning from elegant lightsabers to clumsy blasters. Please note, the reason that I believe their is so strong of an appeal to the original trilogies is, that when we fisrt meet Luke(ep IV) he depends solely on the blaster, and carries his fathers lightsaber. In Empire Strikes Back, the strong appeal is Luke is in a MEAN(Middle) of using a blaster and a lightsaber. Remeber yoda training and tree, he takes his gun hulster when yoda says he would not need it. in cloud city he battles Vader with Saber, but is always using his blaster in the halls attempting to recue frozen Han. In Return Jedi, luke does not use a blaster at all, he depends solely on the lightsaber, He is a Jedi!1 Like his father before him. he does not use blaster.

Dude, you are seriously reading to much into this. Obi wan kileld grevious with a blaster because it was use a blaster or die. As for Obi wan saying that light sabers were used for a more civilized time in episode 4, is because there were no Jedi left to be seen weilding light sabers

GoatMilk's reply " FUC OFF"........nice!

Is dat vernacular old folklore, or old english? "You like your father, are mine!" and my favorite line to taunt someone is..........."Oh...I'm afraid it will be operational when your friends arive" (SW EPVI)

Crap....one could discuss a dead issue like that forever! i post great threads...I posted SIGNIFICANCE TO WHY OBIWAN USES A BLASTER INSTEAD OF SABER ....and...HAIRY ISSUES( ANAKINS MOP WAS IT UGLY)......and.....Pregnancy issue which has been contraversial but effective with hits .lol " You, like your father, are mine!!!" BAZING!!

Just please stop talking. Your arrogance is giving me a headache.

When one write he is attempting to depict something into your head. I see that it was last resort, but Lucas could have also writen in that Obiwan force pushes Greivous of the edge , or force crushes his Thorax(chast) when he say it had a livin heart. It is an ANOLOGY when one can make a literary connection in a text. It was a weapon of last resort and opurtune moment, but it is significant to what iI claim. A change from lightsabers to blasters.
