Yoda saying he failed isn't the same thing as saying he is weaker, come on. He simply knows that he had one shot and one shot only to kill palps, and he didn't get the job done. Do you really think Dooku is stronger then Yoda simply because yoda was not able to kill him in their duel? Sometimes even the stronger fighter either doesn't win, or simply runs out of time.
But make no mistake, in a longer duel, Yoda would have come out on top, of that I have no doubt 🙂
Physical strength has absolutely nothing to do with Force powers. I'm pretty sure C3PO could kick the living shit out of Yoda in a fist fight, but does that matter?
Seriously, if we were talking strictly bar brawling with no force powers used, I think Qui Gon would be the man. I doubt anyone would fuk with him in a bar brawl.

This is a most remarkable discussion. I am absolutely amazed at some of the responses here. Has nobody any idea of the gravity of this accusation? Windu and Yoda? Has anybody read the Ep 3 book? Lucas modified the Yoda-Sidious battle. Yoda is absoluetly blown away by sidioius in the book. Allow me to quote: 'Thje Sith had changed. The Sith had grown, had adapted, had invested a thousand years intensive study into every aspect of not only the force but Jedi lore itself, in preparatation for this day. The new sith could not be destroyed with a lightsaber. How could one win a war against the dark, when war itself had become the dark's own weapon?'
As for Windu, please. Sidious was faking it. His lightsabre combat was slower against Windu, then Yoda (did u notice). this is because he was using this as a test for Anakin. His obedience was being tested. Sidious was aware of this at the time. Now i know everyone loves Windu. Yes he is a great Jedi Master. Personally I think a Windu-Dooku duel would have been outstanding. Try and understand Sidious. Most powerful Sith in the history of the galaxy. Midichlorians second only to Anakin, who was conceived by them. Try and remember, the movie is not the whole truth.
Valar Melkor, I think there is a very good reason why this thread is 37 pages long. How bout, different people have different opinions? Personally, my opinion is that I don't care what that quote says, Yoda is stronger then Palps in combat. He may not be the master strategist, or have the ability to conceal his identity right infront of everyone, but in combat, with a saber and force skills, Yoda is at least palps equal, if not stronger.
Even the most die hard sith fans will agree (and have agreed) that Yoda is at least a very good fight for palps, and many have said they are equals. Blown away by sids? Get outta here with that. Only thing he blew away was himself when he tried to force lightning Yoda and got it tossed in his own face 🙂
Mace Windu and the other Jedi were no match for Sidious. Sidious's appearence of losing near the end of the fight was for Anakins benefit to twish him further to the darkside and reinforce the lies he's been telling him.
As for the fight between Sidous and Yoda, although they appeared to be evenly matched, Yoda clearly sensed that this was a fight he could not win. He had to get the hell out of dodge.

Sidious fought the 3 other Jedi while fighting Mace. After the he killed the Jedi he toyed with Mace until he sensed that Anakin was on his way.

Watch the movie. After dispatching the 3 Jedi, every time there was a pause in the action, Sidious's blade was at Mace's chest or throat.

about the fight being slower that doesn't mean anything at all. and you say Anakins obediance was being tested, what if he had failed the test and not come to palps' side palps would have got killed. i seriously he would take that kind of risk just to test someone. and also by saying Lucas modified the book you have got to be stupid. Star Wars is Lucas's story ok if he says something about the star wars story then it is true, seeing as he invented it in the first place.
Ok, if Sidious wasn't faking it, how come he fought better against Yoda. Use your mind. Even if you are biased towards the Jedi, surely you can see who Sidious is: 'the greatest Sith lord to have ever mastered the force'. Yoda fled. In the book (which was Lucas' original conception). Remember people change the movie (look at Lord of the rings), how many scenes are cut out? Originially, Yoda is horrendously defeated by 2000 years of Sith hatred. WE can't have this in the movie, thiniks Lucas, all the Jedi fans will whine. Solution? A more even match up. So it was that the two were evenly matched.
Still could you really call it evenlly matched. Palps hits Yoda with Sith lightning, bang, hit wall, down (let me guess this time Yoda was caught off guard- some Jedi). Lightsabre combat was even, ill say. What about Sidious force pushes with the senator pods? Once again, Yoda is dodging to save his neck. The reflection of Sith lightning was quite even. Both fell back from the force. Yoda fled, Palps Emperor of the Galactic Empire!
how can you tell that he fought better against Yoda the speed of the fight doesn't mean anything as the Anakin Obi-Wan fight was the fastest and they are not the most powerful. face it Mace owned palps he kicked him in the face for ****s sake. also the books were made around the movie not 50 years before therefore you can not compare it to LOTR.
