Killing off the X-Men would only occur if the comic book biz was destroyed. And that's very unlikely, considering the fan base they've pulled together throughout the years.
As for X-Men: The End, I believe Sage Tessa mentioned something about the word balloons awfully messed up in one issue. It seems though as if Editor in Chief isn't doing such a great editing job. When that happens, I feel that Marvel doesn't give a damn for the book and are just trying to tie it up already.
And that's scary philosophy because there was a similar error in House of M...number one.

Mystique as Jean surprise you? I totally freaked when I saw Jean back. I, personally, thought it was too early...but Olivier drew her hot.
It didnt at first, given marvels tendency to have jean with logan in anything but normal reality... but then when it turned out to be mystique, i was like "f*ck," but the whole "having the perfect life" seemed sorta silly where gambit was concerned... and scott and emma's "perfect couple" thing made me want to puke...
