General Grievous? meh…

Started by exanda kane4 pages

It wouldn't be right for Obi-Wan to kill Dooku, Anakin has to do it to prove himself to...himself. It's his personal vendetta against Dooku that allows him to win, via angry thoughts etc.

And I find the idea of Sidious watching, or just the Chancellor, Anakins trusted friend, watching as his apprentice (Dooku) and Anakin fight, very appealing. Anakin, like at the start of RotS is just expecting Sidious to encourage him, while Sidious is actually manipulating every event and has managed to find a replacement for Dooku.

No because Dooku being killed while Sidious is watching in his chamber on Coruscant would ruin every thing about Dooku. He created the CIS for the Clone War so Dooku should be killed during a huge battle

OK
Here's the deal
Before Episode 3 during the final stages of the clone wars, General Grievous was a world known warrior on his home planet (unkown, unless i missed it 😮 ) and was praised like a king. His tacttics were flawless and he was a great fighter. They're planet was divided in war, not from the clone wars, but by their own pretences. Then Count Dooku came to him, offering a place in his army to destroy the jedi and the republic. Grievous declined, wishing to stay on his own planet and win the war for his race. So dooku hatched a plan. While Grievous was in transit, dooku staged an attack on his shuttle, crippling him. Dooku took him in however grievous's injuries were to great. They had to amputate and replace his limbs with biomechanical arms. The only real part of him is his torso and head, although horribly burned. They also needed to add cybernetic implants to his brain, for him to operate his new limbs. When Grievous came out of his coma, he was told by dooku that the republic had attacked his ship, instead of him. Grievous became enraged and felt deeply ashamed of being half a person. He joined Dooku and he was made general of the droid army. During this time he encounteres many jedi, and was taught to use a lightsaber by Count Dooku. When he killed a jedi he would take they're lightsaber as a trophy and used them in further battles. He came extremly profcient at it and had his arms upgraded, so they could split. When grievous kidnapped Emperor Palpatine, he was pursued by Mace Windu, and was mortally wounded by the force crushing his chest. He just survived, however because of this, his armor that normally encased his organs, had to be removed. He also developed a bad cough and his fighting was limited. After that attack, he prefered to run than to fight becoming ever weaker. He was only expected to live for another year or two. They were wrong. He died by the hands of Obi Wan kenobi by having been burned alive from the inside out. His organs were made from flammable liquids. He was around 80 years old at his death.

Thats about it. 😄

you got it right

grievous is awesome. but here is my question. if greivous killed all of those jedi, then how come he didn't kill Obi-wan?

because obi one is really powerful and general grievous couldnt use the force
(might be EU)

Grievous was a dark Jedi, not a Sith, and he couldnt use the force to sense all of Obi's attacks because he was basically a robot

Grievous isn't even a jedi!

🤨 ...GG was never a Jedi

yeah he has no Force Powers, he was only trained by Count Dooku in lightsaberfighting. Being kinda like a cyborg he had the advantage of moving so fast like a Jedi, but that doesn't make him a Jedi.

I just didn’t like the character. I think he was meant to be sort of shrouded in mystery sort of guy, but he was just kinda randomly thrown into the saga like so many other villains in the PT. Nothing was very clear about his character, in my opinion, besides that he was sort of a droid/alien creature with a cold and knew some cool lightsaber tricks. He was also a coward, which isn’t a respectable trait for any villain. His fight with Obi-Wan wasn’t terrible, but in the end he was just killed by a blaster (uncivilized, indeed master Obi-Wan).

Maybe it was just me, cause I was expecting him to be a very powerful and evil character and very central to the plot…but he just ended up being lame.

The main points to him being in the saga was for him to be a shadow of what Anakin will soon become........ and lets face it........ cause Lucas needed a cool bad guy! And he suceeded

he was also needed as a diversion...Anakin wouldn't be so manipulated if Obi-Wan was still present. But with Obi-Wan on his mission to destroy Grievous, Palpatine had all the freedom to manipulate him and no one stood in his way...he made sure of that, cause he betrayed where Grievous was and knew they would sent Obi-Wan

I actually found out something cool about Grievous' coughing...Matthew Woods did the voice of Grievous, but I read in "Empire" George Lucas did the coughing of General Grievous!

When it was mentioned that Grievous had never killed a Jedi, the response was one from the Clone Wars. Have you all not watched your deleted scenes?

There's actually a deleted scene of RotS where GG slaughters Shaak Ti, beginning his "collection" of lightsabers as mentioned when Obi-wan and Anakin are captured and brought to the bridge...unless I managed to dream that, which does happen sometimes.

Yeah right 🙄

If Bossk and IG-88 were to ever breed = General Grevious

I never saw the point in the character and I still don't. He was INTENDED to be cowardly, that was Lucas' idea. He wanted a typically old school "you'll never catch me coppers!" kind of villain. That still doesn't give him a reason to be in the movie, though. Screen candy and nothing more.

It would have made a bit more sense if Dooku and Grievous' roles were switched.

Like have Grievous as the "Jabba" of Episode III who dies in the intro bit. Dooku was a better character and should have lasted to push Skywalker, like Vader did with Luke in ROTJ. Anything but that crap about influencing midichlorians and "saving Padme" powers. Just have Dooku push Skywalker over the edge and flip out on the Jedi because of it. It would have made Luke's actions in ROTJ made even more special, because Luke would have been in the exact same situation as his father, and it would also explain why The Emperor was so damn cocky and confident that Luke would turn. Now it makes no sense, because the plot Sidious concocts to turn Anakin is way more complicated than the "turn Luke" plan.

Also, I really hate the duel between Obi-Wan and Grievous. The bit where Obi-Wan does that force push ("I don't think so"😉 looks really badly editted. Not only that, but his four arms are quickly reduced to two in a few seconds. The so-called eye candy has lost his edge, which makes him EVEN MORE pointless.

genius right there. having grievous die early would have put a stamp on the jedi fighting droids during the clone war
this would make it obvious then that you can't go to the dark side with good intentions. he would have killed dooku out of hate, and nothing else. His going to the dark side for love weakens the dark side.
This ending, with anakin standing over a fallen dooku, right before mace and the posse bursts in would have given everyone cold chills, as it was, we try to understand why he immediately listens to everything that the emporer tells him right after almost accidently killing mace. (i believe he was trying to stop him, not kill him, sidious finished mace off)

How about this? sidious tries to turn anakin, convincing him that obi wan had been killed (somehow... not sure there) Anakin finally loses it, and tries to kill sidious, but dooku comes out of nowhere (or has been standing by, your choice) crosses his blade in front of anakin, and the fight is on, while sidious watches. I would LOVE to see that.

Not too shabby...

Grievous was a gross wimp and not to mention a coward. He needed to go see a doctor not only for physical health but for mentle also

he served his purpose....he was just a general of the droid army. the republic had to get rid of him, so they did. he was pretty cool with 4 sabers though.

I thought he was a disgrace..utterly pointless.
