Reflections after watching Topher Grace…
Once not too long ago and most recently I heard a song play on the radio that got me thinking. What the name of the song was, is really not important, but for what it said. It said that Love hurts. So was the person that wrote this song reflecting on a truism or was it a whimsical thought? We all know or like to think that love is what makes the world go round, what gives us that spring in our step….makes the foul polluted air we breathe taste sweet.
But why would someone write a song about love hurting? Quite a many of us that has experienced love in its varied form has found it to be quite exhilarating and liberating to the soul and to our hearts. But when a relationship that has known love go sour and dies an agonizing death, is it really “love” that causes that hurt? Or the death of that love?
So I sit here as I intermittently watch Topher Grace and Dennis Quaid in their movie “In Good Company” and reflecting on MY thoughts. I wonder sometimes if loving and falling in love is still considered a worthy cause to pursue. We wish and want to fall in love. And we all wish and want it to grow and flower into something so beautiful and so precious that with our very lives we hold on to it dearly. For some of us, the rewards are bountiful…
For the unlucky lot…they are paid with pain, misery, heartache and a feeling of rejection so severe that they then cannot recover fully if ever. Most often do, as we are made of hardier stuff. I like to think I’m the latter. So I ask. Does love really hurt? And if so, why on earth do we for that one moment lose all sanity and dive head first into the shallow end of the pool? And if all I ever want in life is just pure animalistic no holds bar sex without the love being involved, does that make me a shallow person or one with an empty soul?
But I have thought, and thought twice...is it really worth it? To fall in love? And if so, why?

Do you know? ‘Cause I sure don’t…
Can a man or woman who lives a lifetime gaining knowledge, wisdom and life experience ever truly know what love is? Is it a feeling? Something that quickens our hearts, shallows our breaths, makes us swoon at the thought of the object of our affection? And is there more than one type/definition of what love is?
I’ve lived long enough in this world, and I’ve experienced love in one form or another. But I can guarantee you that for every three I've gone through, two are likely to be lust. My libido speaks!!!! I myself have never claimed to know what love is, nor will I ever. How absurd is that to think that a mere lowly mortal such as I would dare claim such a thing. Because if I did know, for sure I’d have a beautiful multi-million dollar home in Bel-Air or Malibu next to AJ and BP’s place with a bevy of beautifully bikini-clad illegally large-bosomed blonde women loitering around the pool and/or Jacuzzi!
I was kidding around about the blondes. But in all seriousness…I do not know what love is, or what it’s supposed to be. I cannot even begin to describe it for what it should be or not.
Now to be sure, I am not talking about the kind of love one has for a family member or a pet…but the kind that makes us become something different than what we originally were before we were struck by Ero’s arrows. But I do know this, if and when love comes my way…I sure as Hell could care less if do know what it’s supposed to be. I care more for the meaning behind it. Because the saddest thing that one can do is spend 85 percent of their lives trying to figure it out, and miss out on everything else.
[oh look, scarlet just kissed topher!!! 😱]

One word. One word...is all that it takes to pierce
our paper hearts, and cause so much joy or pain.
How is it, that that one word can do so much, or that we
even allow it to do just that? Are we, as humans wrought with
fragile emotions and our thoughts filled with chaotic
memories of the past, so easily waylaid with one word?
A word that can, if allowed, uplift us soaring
beyond the clouds or bury us deep within the
muddy ground. Is this then, the sum of our meager and
mundane lives? To be forever bound and enslaved to one word?
How then do you justify, that one word?

As I search your eyes
for what lies…beneath
And my dreams
are not what it seems…that’s how I love you
Can two lives be all as they say
this day…as one
When I’ve said all that I canLike a dream in the afternoon
When I sit in my living room
Having never had your hand
To walk away a broken manI’ve had enough of pretending
This heart of mine needs mending
So fly away, away from here
Like a star, so far so nearNow I know what needs to be done
For one like me
To have to see…the truth
What can I
If to try and give…that’s how I love you
Can two lives be all as they say
This day…as one
When I’ve said all that I can
amazing...
