But they supposedly don't take showers regularly and stink and are rude to foreigners and speak French on purpose in the presence of foreigners if they know English and give little to no help direction wise etc.Anata wa wakarimasu ka.....
I think that steroetype gets carried away a lot. I've been to France twice, and they were always really helpful when it came to trying to communicate. In western France a lot of people spoke Spanish, so I didn't even have to worry about any damn Germanic languages.

i, also, have been twice. I've never had any problems. Nor have I ever encountered anyone that had overpowering body odor.
Originally posted by Quiero MotaI actually questioned someone who had been over there recently and they did experience the rudeness.

The French are chauvinistic, and very proud of their language. It is only courtesy to at least attempt to address them in their own language. Even if your knowledge of French is rudimentary, your attempt will be appreciated and you will receive a positive response.
You can' t just rely on English only. Speaking foreign languages in addition to English is vital in my opinion.
