"You don't need blaster weaponry to hurt a man. I believe a number of them had agricultural implements also."

"Ah...that makes more sense. But why would they have blaster weaponry now, as you said they might have?"

"The Sanctuary is partly a museum of the entirity of the history of the Republic. Wars from millennia ago were using weapons which in many ways are similar to those used today, such is the static and and degenerate state of the Republic, even since the victory over the Sith. It would only take the meanest of technical skills to re-activate some of the weaponry exhibits and make use of them."

"That is troubling, though it is at least reassuring that they would not have great skill with those archaic blasters."

"Do you know their leader?"

"Volun? No. A trader. He was armed from the start, incidentally. But it's not their personal weaponry that is the problem; as you say, few of them would have the skill to use them properly."

"What is the problem, then?"

"As I believe you were already told, the problem is the Sanctuary's automated defence system, which is considerable and complex."

"Ah, yes...almost forgot," Jelena says, playing with one of her lekku.

"Now...this Volun character...why would your people listen to a trader? When did he appear? Where did he come from?"

"Volun is simply a farmer grown rich off the sariego crop, who ventured into other trading interests in the Galaxy at large. He is a charismatic man and he has gained a certain following, especially in the agricultural sector."

You can't help thinking you just missed something there, Jelena.

"That is odd...why would a mere trader, wealthy as he is, seek to displace the Z'har?"

"Greed. Volun wants what all traders want- more money. He doesn't like the idea of his profits going to anywhere except himself. He doesn't want to pay a single credit of tax in order to support the public infrastructure that supports all Cassilians and has made this planet the great one that it is."

Please do carry on on this line, Jelena, but when I said you felt you missed something, it was actually to do with what was mentioned just before that.

Jelena feeling she missed something does not involve who Volun is?

"Did you speak with him personally?"

Yup, nothing to do with Volun. It's the simple logical thing you guys keep dancing around.

"I've been present at negotiations but I have had no need to talk to him myself."

Would the answer be 'Why the hell would the peaceful and non-violent pacifists of Cassilis suddenly declare war on the leaders after all these years?'

Nope. It is to do with them taking the Sanctuary.

Hmm...why did the Z'har retreat so easily? Why not call in help before they attacked?

The Z'Har are all pacifists; to fight is simply not in their nature. They most likely would not have acted with the calm you could show under battle pressure.

But then they were never meant to be fighting, were they?

No, they weren't...they are pacifists, after all...I don't quite follow.

As in who WAS meant to be doing the fighting?

Or what was?

The two people...or things...I can think of doing the fighting are Volun and his Rebels or General Kuylen and his men.
