Muay Thai or Boxing?

MMA Jean Claude is....(Mixed Martial Artist)

well, kickboxing is sorta based on Muay thai, but it does use feet. It also uses a lot of european boxing punch combos whereas muay thai's combos are mostly based on chinese boxing.

😱 😍

You are soooooooooooo KooL! ahhh!! I'm a TKD martial artist! Muay Thai is so kool tho! YUP ur definetly one of my best friends!

i'm just learning, i got to green belt in TKD, but quit cause my dick of an instructor kept trying to force me into a right handed stance.

remember these wise words from my fencing instructor "I would rather fence a champion than a lefty any day".

Muay Thai, those knee clinches can be bloody vicious!

It's funny (by that I mean stupid) how southpaws are looked down upon.

When i boxed I was able to box as a righty and as a southpaw, but my coach tried to keep the soouthpaw thing quiet. As you stated, people don't like to fight lefties because it throws them off their game and often makes a good fighter look bad.

I only went to the left on my last two fights.

If I had my choice I'd take up Muay Thai but it's hard to come by around here, I have to settle with boxing.

Hagler, Hearns, Ali, Tzsyu, Chavez, Hatton, Duran. I havn't seen one Muay Thai fight or martial art fight that gave me the buzz these guys did.

So I say, Boxing!

i have the advantage of being fully ambidextrous when it comes to fencing and martial arts, and nothing pisses of an instructor or an opponent more than when you suddenly reverse the grip on your shinai and give your opponent's liver a surprise hack.

I personally like Jujutsu, Judo, Kenjutsu, Bojutsu, Ninja Ken, Taijutsu, and then Intonjutsu (Very useful)

I took karate so I would have to say Muay Thai I hate boxing.JM

WE AGREE!! 😄 i dislike boxing very much to!

Actually, there is less chance of brain damage in Muay Thai, because the fights don't last long, due to quick knock-outs, due to lack of foot and hand protection. Where as in boxing they can be beating the hell out of each other for 12 rounds, because the bigger gloves stop them from been knocked out straight away.

Muay thai matches mostly center around wearing down an opponents thighs with shink kicks till they can no longer stand.

I saw a fight on TV, they were in a clinch, and kicking each others thighs with there heels. It didn't look like much but, after a while it would wear them down.

Muay Thai.. you get the best of both worlds.. I would also vote other, for after you get good at thai.. a martial artist never truely learns everything 😄

Other:

Hapkido
Mantis
Shaolin Fist

I think you have to do a style that suits your physical ability, if your well built, then any kick or punch will do if you have 16st (224pounds) behind it. but if your not that big, then you have to be more sneaky, go for speed, and attack the vital organs. But, most importantly, you have to over-come your fear, otherwise, you will lose.
