Thats the job of the editors. The writers can put whatever they want in a story really but its up to the editors to cross check their facts and make sure that facts match up. They also make sure that characters can't apear in two places at once, and try to ensure that timelines an events run properly.

Not Joey Q, the actual editors ie Axel Alonso, Molly Lazer, Tom Breevort and the rest of those idiots I've never heard of before.

Axel Alonso......Molly Lazer....and Tom Breevort. Got anymore ? Teh list is almost done !

An Observation

Marvel Comics began in 1962. Only 14 years later did the first cross-over appear (Superman vs Spider-Man, 1976). This means that Marvel has so far spent more than twice as much time (31 years vs 14 years) hosting its competition's characters rather than relying solely on its own devices.

DC is catching up. It's been around since 1935 (if by another name), so it took 41 years to get to that first cross-over. Only 10 more years to go...

Which means, in the year 2018, both companies will have spent more time using their competition to boost sales than not.

What the? in Wolverine #52, Sabertooth gets his hand chopped off by Wolverine implying he no longer has adamantium. When the heck did he lose it...again?

In one of the Access comics, Access mentions Venom to Batman ... Batman claims he already knows who Venom is.

How does he know? was there ever a comic featuring both of them?

😕

I think it was just assumed story-wise they were crossing over prior to visually seeing them on-panel of the comic.
