So I've considered reading something from Ultimate Marvel Universe, but don't really know where to start. Any suggestions? Of Earth 616 I usually tend to like Spidey, Thor, Punisher, Iron Man and occasionally a random X-Men/Wolverine/FF etc.
I would suggest starting at the beginning. Get the first trade for Ultimate Spidey, Ult. X-men, and the Ultimates. Ultimate universe is still fairly simple. I would also recommend the ultimate Iron-man by Orson Scott Card.

i'm a relatively new here....didn't know where to ask sowhat's PIS, CIS, BFR ?????
PIS is plot induced stupidity, and commonly refers to having characters act differently as means to achieve an end. CIS is character induced stupidity. An example is Rhino, who despite having good physical stats, is an utter idiot. BFR is battlefield removal. On this forum, if a character is removed from the specified battlefield and unable to return under his/her/its own power, it counts as a loss.

in that order:
Plot Induced stupidity. IE: Oh, Superman would normally take care of that problem in about ten seconds but... uh... Kryptonite just fell out of space, right on top of him! So only... the Ray or someone stupid like that can deal with the problem.
Character Induced stupidity: Anything that is part of the character's intrinsic make up that makes a threat much more dangerous than it ought to be. IE, Jack Knight doesn't know how to use the Gravity Rod in order to make shields, so he gets hit with a bullet.
Battle Field Removal: Aka, in the words of the Immortal from the excellent "Invincible" series: When in doubt, throw them into space. Aka, the Sentry's method of dealing with everything. Aka, what Superman should have done with Doomsday in the first place, rather than fighting him hand to hand.
Okay, so I have a question. I was just thinking over 52, and it occured to me that I couldn't really figure out why Luthor did the whole metagene therapy thing that lead to the Fall of the Supermen. I mean, I get that it's evil... but really, it just seems like he lost a whole lot of money and got a beacoup of bad PR. I get that he gained powers for himself, but couldn't he have just done that without making a bunch of people die and wasting all that time and effort? what exactly did he gain?

In what comic does it say the being that is killing all the New Gods that he is the Son of The Source?? 📖
it hasn't said that anywhere. Starlin said in an interview on Newsarama that a being called the Son of the Source was going to play on important role in Death of the New Gods.

Learn to type dude. Use capital, full stops, the lot. Maybe people would listen. I mean really type properly. I am no good but at least people can understand me.
Okay so I just read the most recent Batman and the Outsiders....
uh, can you ever....EVER... picture a time when Batman would refer to a lesbian couple... as a "special relationship?"
Batman does NOT use condescending euphemisms like that.
just read Superman/Batman 42, also. And I hear people complaining about the whole insulting of Darkseid and everything...but personally, I'm okay with just pretending it didn't happen at all.
I mean, the whole thing reads like illiterate fan-fiction, "She is my ally... my passion... my Bekka...I can feel her pull... the pull I have denied myself all my life..."
Honestly, aside from using not using euphamisms for homosexuality, Batman also does not sound like a freshman in high school on livejournal talking about his first crush. An adult is writing this? Jesus Christ. I've read horrible comics... but I've never read a comic that sounds like a pubescent nerd on myspace pretending to be Batman having sex. That's something I DO NOT need in my comics.

He does refer to Robin as his 'partner.'

With the context of him being in the throes of extreme pheromone indced lust I think that might be intentional.

I understand the nature of the situation, and I'm aware of the fact that Batman was being driven mad with lust. Doesn't change the fact that the writing was unimaginable bad.
