Does Galactus choose the look/characteristics of his heralds or does he merely amplify something already within them, like Norrins desire to "surf the stars" as it were?

I remember hearing that he gave Surfer his board after reading his mind and finding out that he enjoyed some kind of lava surfing on his home planet

Does anyone know anything about Monguls physiology to explain why he's so strong and invulnerable. I would appreciate it if you keep the traditional superficial "Its a comic it doesn't matter" comments to a minimal. Expect to invoke my wrath if you find the need to state the typical, cliched aforementioned response. 🙂

I often thing that the ability to sustain insane injuries simply "comes with superhuman durability". If you read/remember Black Adam's crusade in WW3/52 he took a lot of injuries that should have felled anyone with human physiology. Arrows straight into the chest and some of the injuries he suffered at the scientist crews' hands were worth mentioning. Like having an area the size of a football field simply expand inside his brain. Thor has also on occasion suffered injuries like that, losing an arm/eye, having every muscle in his body ripped and broken.

While this doesn't offer any exact explanation as to why Mongul was able to survive these things, it shows that there is a trend of superdurable/strong guys surviving ridiculous injuries.

I'm not sure if that's official Marvel canon, or something fans (fans-later-turned-editors?) cooked up at one point. As initially conceived by Jack Kirby, the Surfer simply was what he was: there wasn't even any reference to a previously normal life. Even in his origin, while the story of Norrin Radd and Zenn-La came to be, there was no given reason for the surfboard, per se, other than for transportation.

He's an alien, and all of his race is like that?

I have a question,if Galactus is supposed to be this super genius why the hell hasn't he found a way to keep him from eating all of those poor planets? I mean isn't he a super telepath? If I heard my food pleading with me not to eat it I'd probably vomit.

He has really big muscles and very thick skin.

He's tried, but Galactus eating planets is a universal constant that balances life and death. It's necessity that he consumes planets.

Does the Green scar Hulk have the same mental ability has Amadeus Cho.

Pak thinks so.

The rest? I don't know :/

Why does he work with one herald at a time, instead of thousands or millions? Why hasn't he sent out billions of probes to find planets? If he has the power of "transcendent thought" (FF#75), why hasn't he mapped out the whole universe by now (or at least the whole galaxy or galactic cluster where he's currently feeding)? Galactus has certainly been around long enough: he should know this universe like the back of his purple-gloved hand.

if it's a universal constant, then shouldn't the cosmos be going out of whack since he didn't get to eat earth?

No, because earth is just another meal. Only this meal is a lot of trouble, it would require him to exert more energy than it's worth.

Can anyone shed some insight as to what exactly Superman was heat visioning in this scene?

An explanation of the whole scene in general would be nice. 🙂

Wasn't he tearing down the walls of where Darkseid was hiding in his recovering body with his HV? Hence why he got to Bruce's body...

as was commented on above, superman essentially heat visioned his way through the 'walls' of the singularity - enabling himself to enter it's 'core' [where darkseid/batman's corpse were chilling.]

that's how supes managed to come face to face with darky in the next issue - which was an incredible feat in itself, considering no other characters [aside from the flashes] were able to breach the singularity, from the outside.

the forcefield Supergirl and John Stewart were unable to affect earlier.

I posted that in his respect thread. Like others said before me, he broke a shield/wall that was easily holding off John and Supergirl from breaking it

Not to mention, practically an army of Green Lanterns who were "unable to approach" the Earth because of the singularity, until Superman had confronted Darkseid.

Well the fact that cosmic beings are always mucking around would probably serve to shake things up a bit often. It wouldn't stay constant for long.
