It has been stated around the place that Captain America (Rogers) is a master of all (or many) forms of martial arts.

However unlike Batman he didn't train since childhood - his background as an American born in 1917, growing up in NY, and being a physically weak 4F means that he definitely didn't learn anything prior to becoming Cap.

He had less than three and a half years of WWII activity between creation and being frozen, most of which seemed to be with his platoon on the front. At least some of whatever training time he did have must have spent been mastering the shield. And several flashback stories seem to indicate he wasn't as adept at fighting during much of his WWII period as he is now.

Exactly when did he master all these martial arts?

he was pretty young when he was in the SS program, after his treatment he was put through the ringer, then was hot dropped into WWII.

after he was freed from the ice, that's when he expanded on his repertoire, cause well, japan wasn't the enemy anymore. add the connections tony has and his long seat at head of the avengers, and his liaison with shield, that's when he really started training harder.

but, he really sticks with a few core styles, but uses moves outside of them to get the job done.

IIRC, Storm + Thor had small puppy love going on during this title run.

Assuming its in this series #31 or 36 (base on Thor & Storm there).

What I'm talking about is cannon I'm pretty sure.

Thor wasn't actually present in said issue as I recall. Storm mentions him and how she envies his ability.

Thanks anyways.

solar system implies a planet (or planets) orbiting a star like we do sol (hence solar system since people couldn't fathom any other similar setup anywhere else in the universe until recently, now we know of tens of thousands of planets)

star system is that same idea, only difference is it;s stars orbiting other stars, like binary systems and the like.

just judging by your name, i'm guessing this is about the "herald my rage" incident where 3 star systems (the blast grew even larger after that revelation) were consumed by galactus' blast?

i know it's true biscuits

Batman?

The real difference is that there is only one solar system, which is ours, named after our sun, sol. Every other one is properly called a star system. Of course writers get that wrong in fiction all the time.

Now I want to know, has Batman (current continuity) ever used a gun?

Besides Final Crisis?

I think he's held them before, but I don't think he's used them.

Define gun. Because he's used gun-like weapons lots of times (Mr. Freeze's pistols for one) but only seldom used actual firearms.

He has said on one occasion (I'd appreciate if someone could track it down for me) that just because he has a code against guns doesn't mean he doesn't know how to use them and that he's a crack shot. Which is only natural considering he also claimed to be a master at every violent art known to man.

"I made a very solemn vow about firearms. But for you, I'm making a once in a lifetime exception."

^ That line leads me to believe Bats had never used a gun [offensively] before shooting Darkseid in FC #6.

How and why did that happen?

This is the most recent OHOTMU bio for Kang that I could find:

Thanks Galan, I'll try to put it to a good use.

Does anyone recommend a good starting off point to get into the New Gods, primarily Orion?

Anyone remember the Marvel magazine that had sort of a weight lifting competition? It featured all of the heavy weights like Hulk etc. and Thor won.
