In Quasar #30 Quasar flew into alternate universes to retrieve people for a watcher. Are the universes he flew into in a canon comic book non canon?
In Marvel, most alternate universes have a numerical designation (even What Ifs) -- thus they are canon/in continuity to Marvel as a whole.

That said, the universes Quasar journeyed to in his search for Living Laser in the issue you mentioned are absolutely canon -- Uatu even referenced their numerical designation before sending Quasar on his mission. In fact, many of those universes appeared to be from What Ifs.

Hrm. You'd think they would.

maybe. i think writers just like making the lanterns conciously decide to do it themselves, like hal against mongul etc.

So if what happened in those universes is canon then even stuff like Maelstrom stalemating thanos would be right?

Been looking for a comparison between the 2 and when I read that comic I wondered if it was canon.

It's a canon alternate universe, containing canon alternate versions of characters.

Feats preformed by alternate versions cannot be used as evidence for mainstream characters.

aye, so if superman punches out an alternate... orion, say, it's a feat for superman, but not indicative of the real orion.

^ Right. And we really wouldn't know how impressive of a feat it was for Superman, if the alternate version of Orion didn't have any feats to speak of.

Additionally if, say, All-Star Superman (an alternate version of the real thing) preformed a given feat, it has absolutely no bearing on what mainstream Supes can do. Etc.

ok, so this is about Man-Thing, so I'm sure I'm the only person who cares, but...

When do I have to accept that they have changed Man-Thing's regeneration?

Dark Avengers and Thunderbolts, his most recent appearances, have totally changed his physical invulnerability and regeneration, but looking back to the Gerber, Clairmont and JSM days, he could regenerate from essentially nothing, instantly (ya, challange me on the scans). At what point do I have to accept that this is a change in the character's powerset? and really, given that Gerber is the only writer that has ever done Man-Thong justice (I'm sorry, but its true, read v1 compared to anything else), why do I have to accept these changes?

is there now a "classic" Man-Thing, or can I explain these inconsistencies away as poor writing?

(I'll do the scan thing if you want...)

[I couldn't think of a better thread to ask this, and kinda assumed a "Man-Thing" specific thread would be cursed to oblivion]

go by the more abandoned average showing... if he has regenerated without power ups regularly like he did fighting the hulk use that as his base regen.

i tend to ignore single modern low end depiction as PIS. if they become regular and start outweighing the character establish history just cry and accept it.

I think Marvel just wised up and realized that no matter how hard they try, M-T can never be as awesome as Swamp Thing... So they began downplaying him. 🙂

so, apparently Swamp Thing's first appearance came out a week after Man-Thing's. Allegedly, the two writers were living together at the time and had no idea what the other was working on.

But no, they realized it would never be as good as Gerber again 😉

does marvel have a series like dc's secret six other than heroes for hire? you know, a team of neutral/villain characters that do jobs? if so, what is it?

It was just a mini, but MODOK's Eleven fits the bill.

anyone know in what comic this: "Flashbacks reveal that the Shield was founded by Imhotep following a battle (alongside Apocalypse and the original Moon Knight) against the Brood, and that previous agents include Zhang Heng (who encountered a Celestial), Galileo Galilei (who fought against Galactus) and Leonardo Da Vinci (who is shown with a mysterious device, flying off in an ornithopter)." happened in?

It's from the new S.H.I.E.L.D. ongoing.

The little Brood invasion is from the first S.H.I.E.L.D issue I think.
