I'll read it again but I was for sure Morpheus said the Kindly Ones didn't do anything to the Dreaming that he could not undo. Yeah he did want to die, he was pretty depressed thinking about everything he has done, and knew he couldn't change. Destruction kinda blaming him for making him leave and making the family down by one might have also got to him, both have big egos.
