No...to say the re-make would be worse than the OT is unfair. You have to give Lucas credit as he strived HARD to get his OT out. Lucas is planning to re-do the special effects and space battles in the OT when CGI becomes cheaper.
But personally I think the modelled ships looked more realistic than the plasticy looking PT CGI ships and you can instantly tell a CG from the real thing and the X-Wings and Tie Fighters and the Falcon look more realistic than anything the people at ILM can muster in CGI unless it was just one CG model and nothing else. lol.
He shouldnt re-do them as it will ruin the already perfect pacing of the Saga although it may tie up some plot holes and certain intercuts in A New Hope and Return of The Jedi (I used to call it: The Jedi Returns(which sounds better)) but The Empire Strikes is perfectly fine and excellent the way it is. (Diss TESB and ill KILL you!!!!!) It is the best Star Wars movie ever...period!!!!
The PT excluding The Phantom Menace was a load of CGI crap. Revenge of The Piss more like and Attack of The Dopes.....

I am not saying to change it, it is fine the way it is, but it is an unfair judgement to say it would automatically be bad.
But that would be pointless since Endor is not A wookie home planet. The only thing that needs changing is the explosions and fleet battles, and I state that The Empire Strikes Back shouldn't even be altered. I will never watch SW again if it is, and, ANH still needs some tweaking, like removing the space scenes and laser blts and create them digitally, except the opening of course, id leave it in as an omage.
They only thing i would want changed on the OT is when in space, you can see a blue "box" aroung some ships...mainly TIEs and some rebel craft...and they need to fix Vader's pink lightsaber and make it red again. Other than that...maybe some editing during the sfx scenes in ANH, i.e. turning lightsabers on/off, etc...
