And why not? A religion is a belief, you can say anything is a religion.

Now if you had worded that as saying: "This is a commonly held myth. No census response can create an officially recognised religion." Then it would have had some credibility.

What total nonsense!

Whether it is in a census or not has no effect on whether it is a belief or not! So by your wording, the census response is STILL totally irrelevant.

So my statement 100% stands. What an odd thing to say!

This whole association that has been made with saying 'Jedi' on your census has always been total bilge, and believed only by the oddly credulous.

Besides which, to say that simply believing in something creates a religion is a very trivial way of looking at religion. At any objective position by which a religion is defined in this world, that is not sufficient.

Oh i noticed i wrote a mistake..A new hope is episode IV (4), not IX (9)..hahaz.

After searching 'Jedi Religion' I came across several threads focusing on the subject.

I figured I would post it here cause I've already posted in this one. I found this interesting. Anyone got plans to move to Romania?

Religion IS a belief, where do you think they all came from? One person starts a religion and starts coming up with cokamamey ideas, others believe him and they start following this "religion".

I'm not saying that this Jedi religion is real or not, it's stupid IMO.

Not that I support the Jedi religion or its followers, but strictly speaking, Christianity is a book. Just a book.

Christianity is SO much more than a book. And besides the Bible is a book. And that's more than just a book. It's God's word.

But where is the proof? At the end of the day it is down to personal preferance which religion we follow. We may be brought up to believe in a certain faith but there is no law to say that you can't convert to any other religion that will accept you.

How did any religion start? They all have to start with someone coming up with the idea and beliefs and trying to recruit followers.

So technically I could say that I am the founding member of a new religion. lets say it is called..... Vaderanity. I could write down all my beliefs in a book, mass produce this book and sell it in every book store for £10 and if it attracted any followers it could be classed as a religion.

i like the idea of a sith and jedi religion i want a religion but i cant find the right one i dont no maybe i will follow the sith religion and what about rastaferianisim is that how you spell it is that a religon

correct on both counts. You go with what you believe in. And may the force be with you

Ahh lets back off of the religious thing right now... I'm not a moderator but this discussion does not belong in here...

Stick to the reference of the Jedi and Sith religious discussion...

And on that note... The Jedi religion has been around for over 1000years right here on earth... They are called the Shaolin Monks.

Right after midday meditation and bamboo shucking, they'll get to it. 😉

it did make the UK census but they were quick to point out that it DID NOT make it a recognised religion

Just reiterating.
Also, this is one of the best descriptions of the Jedi, that I have ever heard/read.

"Jedi are not moralists. That's a common misperception. We are fundamentally pragmatic . The Jedi is altruistic less because to be so is good, than because to be so is safe: to use the Force for personal ends is dangerous. This is the trap that can snare even the most good, kind, caring Jedi: it leads to what we call the dark side. Power to do good eventually becomes just power..." -Shatterpoint Matthew Stover

i have always dreamed that the jedi be reconised as a religion and that an acadmy be built, and those who wanted peace and justice would join. And in time a republic be built on earth.

YEAH SO YOU THINK I 'M A NUT?

Well yeah Peace would suck

The entire Sithism thing is really retarted. You have to swear to protect the dark side. If you ask me its kind of Satanic. (I don't mean to sound preachy) But swearing to protect the dark side is a little far out there. Look some of these nut cases might think they are truly a "Sith" and go off killing people...so they can fulfil their destiny as a Sith Lord.

The funny thing is, if it was a true Sith religion shouldn't they be killing each other to get higher in rank?
