NO! REPENT oh ungodly sinner! For you have spilled God's seed and taken the lives of millions of unborn children! MURDERER!
*napalms masturbation clinic*
REPENT ye filthy son of satan!
Don't take that seriously at all.
Alright, speaking religiously, yes, masturbation is a sin. It doesn't matter if everyone does it or it's a part of nature, masturbation is still breaking what many religions consider the "law of chastity." Masturbation is greatly disrespectful towards whichever sex you're masturbating to, and it completely changes the way you look at people. And worst of all, God sees every second of it. I don't mean to sound like a puritan fanatic, because I'm not, but religiously speaking, that's the answer.

So, your god is outside of yourself? I am part of God.
You are correct in part, masturbation can lead disrespectful thoughts, and were the mind goes so does the body. However, this is true with many things, like watching TV, or playing video games. Are they also sinful?

I can semi-see how you'd find it disrespectful although I disagree. On the other hand, do you have any idea just how many girls LIKE the idea of guys doing that with the mental image of them? SOMETIMES a girl knowing that a guy is masturbating to her will often let her know, although in a very blunt way, that she is desireable. Which is something many girls wonder.
Dedicating such intimate private moments to one girl can also be seen as respectful.

Actually, there's also an answer to that in the scriptures. If a girl is willing to give up her image she is esentially throwing herself at someone, thus showing great disrespect to herself. So, I know where you're coming from in that some girls don't mind, but it's still wrong in the eyes of God.

Is reknown even a word...or did you mean renown?
It's a bit of sarcasm and a bit of truth. Surely, you're intelligent enough to recognize it?
As for the actual question, yes according to bibical (canonical) precepts masturbation is a sin in all Abrahamic religions because ejaculatory emissions is considered to be sacred and a potential waste of life. They thought sperm was a limited supply back then.
In actual real life, masturbation is not a sin. If so, then Satan better have one hell of tugboat to hell because he'll have alot of orders to fill.
What isn't a Sin these days. If you lived by the bible you'd do nothing but go to church, give them money, go home and stand there thinking about pretty flowers and how much you love god (not sitting, if you accidentally sit for too long you're a sloth and will go to hell).
A long story short, everything worth doing is a sin according to someone.
