It's never mentioned in scripture though...Only the spilling of seed from the story of Tamar, I think....And that being so contraception would also be a sin.
Nothing to do with masturbation:
Genesis 38:6-10Now Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
But Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the sight of the LORD, so the LORD took his life.
Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother."
Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother.
But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.

Why else would anybody masturbate?
That's a question many men have tried to answer... AND FAILED!!! That's a question that has confounded philosophers and theologists since the ascent of man....
Actually that's a lie. I'm sure it's relative to the person doing it though, but I believe common consensus is that it has something to do with sexual release.

Wait, what did Er do to become "evil in the sight of the Lord"? Seems a bit unfair to just kill him. And so was Onan killed because he wasted his seed, or because he was sleeping with Judah's wife?

According to ancient Hebrew law, if a man dies before producing an heir, his brother must impregnate his widow, thereby producing an heir through him.
Because the child would be not be considered his but that of his brother, Onan had sex with Tamar but pulled out and ejaculated on the ground so as to not impregnate her.
If I remember the story right also about Tamar, the 2nd husband died also, so when the 3rd son had too be laying with her, he got nervous about the whole thing...He didn't want to bite the dust either...So now she had 3 dead husbands and still no heir, that's why she dressed up a a Harlot and layed with her father in law.

i know im not supposed to have lustful thoughts but sometimes i cant help myself. is this sin forgiveable?discuss.
It's just a taboo and will probably never become a normal subject, it is just something wich the general opinion sees as geeky or sad (although everybody does it) and all the macho's will laugh at you! Muhahaha!
But what the hell did you mean with 'I'm not supposed to have lustful thoughts'? 🤨
Was that supposed to be satirical?
